Chapter 3.

*FLASHBACK*

Luke's pov

I woke up at the sound of my ringtone. My cellphone was ringing, at two in the morning. I groaned and checked the caller ID and saw Sophie's name. I sat in my bed and picked up quickly.

"Soph?!" I said in a rushed voice.

I heard noises, muffled crying. My heart began to race in my chest, and I was creating the worse scenarios in my head.

"He cheated on me! And...an-and he broke up with me... BY TEXT!!" She cried.

My heart cracked in million of pieces, just because of how destroyed she sounded. I saw her crying before, but it was never for something serious. Now, I knew she needed me.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"M-my room."

"Ok. I'll be there in five minutes."

"Luke, don't end the call!... Please."

I stood up and put random clothes on, still with my phone in hands. I went down the stairs and wrote a note to my parents in case I wouldn't be back soon. I jumped in my car and I think I've never drove this fast.

Because everybody was sleeping, I decided to use her window instead of the front door. Sophie's bedroom was on the side, next to a tree so, just like in the movies, I climbed the tree and approach her window. I saw her, sitting on her bed, trying to stop crying because she knew I was going to be there soon. She was so beautiful, her hair in a messy bun but I didn't like the look on her face. Sophie was looking at her cellphone, probably reading the conversation she had with Cody the jerk.

I knocked at the window, which made her jump. She put a hand on her heart and smiled weakly, while opening it for me.

"Five minutes, huh?" She said, showing me that it took me twenty minutes instead.

"Sorry about that, but it's not easy to find an open store in the middle of the night!"

She looked at me with her puffy red eyes, confused. I handed her a plastic bag that she took and gave it a look inside.

"I thought that it might be usefull... I saw that in a movie!" I said shyly.

Sophie giggled and hugged me. I had brang four chocolate bars, her favorites.

While she was eating, Sophie sat me on her bed and started to explain what happenned. Around midnight, she decided to call Cody because she had a sudden urge to see him. He did not answer but a female voice did. The girl said that Cody was busy taking care of her and Sophie hung up, horrified. Finally, at about one in the morning, he texted her.

Cody<3

Hey, sorry about that

Sophie

I hope you are! I was going to propose you to come over...

Cody<3

Really!!? To do..?

Sophie

Same that you did with the girl who hang up the phone!

Cody<3

Oh shit Soph, I am sorry, I was about to tell you, but you and me it's over. Sorry babe

While she was telling me all this, her eyes filled with tears and I didn't knew what else to do than to take her in my arms.

She let go and allowed herself to cry in front of me. I felt the tears wet my shirt, but I didn't cared. We both fell on her bed, me lying on my back and Sophie, her head on my chest. We stayed like this for about half an hour without saying a word.

Finally she broke the silence.

"You know, it's not because I loved him that I am so sad... It's because I was ready to give him something special from me. I am humiliated."

I looked at her, lost in the story. She rolled her eye at me and said :

"Well... if he came here instead of fucking that bitch, I would have lost my virginity, tonight."

I suddenly felt relieved that he broke up with her and that he did not win that part of her. Especially because the whole school would be informed on Monday about the break up.

I played with a lock of her hair as she exhausted all the reserves of tears her body could contain. Sophie sat up and smiled to me.

"Thanks for being here. I mean, you are the bestfriend a girl could dream to have. I am really lucky, Luke. I love you."

She layed back against me and fell asleep. I could not stop thinking about those three words that meant so much. Unfortunately for me, she told me these, but not in the same way as I would tell her.
