Chapter 26.

Sophie's pov

Once everybody, except my parents and the boys, left the appartnent, I went straight to my room and started to fill my bags with clothes. I still had a month before school restarts, so I was really happy to go back to my hometown, in Cali. I was also pretty nervous to know I'll see Luke again.

What if it's not like I am expecring and it gets really awkward? I was asking to myself millions of questions, when a slight knock at my door snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Hey!" Calum's raspy morning voice said to me. I sent him a warm smile and he closed the door behind him. He came next to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

"Yesterday, I wanted to tell you something but I got drunk really fast so I forgot!" We both started to laugh but he gasped in pain. Calum had a headache and I could tell he wasn't feeling good by the pale colour of his skin.

I left the room and came back with a glass of water and aspirins. He thanked me and before speaking, he gulped the water and aspirins down.

"What I wanted to say is that it's not the same without you."

My smile fadded a bit and he saw it. Calum, one of my bestfriends, took my hands in his and looked straight into my eyes.

"Soph, I am not telling you this to make you feel bad. All I want is to let you know that we miss you a lot, and when I say we, it includes Luke."

I nodded and looked at our hands. A tear made her way down my cheeks and I felt his warm hand wipe it off.

"I am so happy that you are coming back to Cali, even if it's only for a week! Luke will be so surprised!" Calum said with excitment in his voice. I couldn't help but smile back to him and hug him.

Calum hugged me back, his arms tightening around my waist.

"Thank you Cal, for never letting me down, despite everything that happened." I whispeard in the crooks of his neck.

"How could I do that, you are the fifth second of us!" He said and I hugged him tighter. Calum always had the words to cheer me up and comfort me.

Luke's pov

When I receieved Micheal's text I was in my car, heading to my grand-mothers house. I see her about three times a year and I felt like I needed to escape from the usual waves of Cali.

Mickey

You at home?

Luke

Nop, on my way to Nana's :)

Mickey

Oh.. okay

See you when you come back

Luke

In about a week or so

Mickey

That long!?

Luke

Yeah, why? O.o

Michey

For nothing, have a nice week

That was weird. Why did he cared about me leaving this long? He knew I needed to leave my house, where I felt imprisoned since a moment. My grand-ma was the perfect person I needed to cheer me up.

When I came in, I went to put my bag in the guestroom, where I was sleeping everytime I came here. Then, I found her in the garden, at the back of her house. She was playing in her flowers, giving them some water and stuff.

"Hey Nana!" I said, sounding like a kid but I couldn't help it. Instantly, she looked up at me and her eyes widden and she smiled.

"Lukey, my big boy!! What are you doing here?" She looked surprised but happy to see me. I took her into a bear hug and she kissed my cheek.

I felt her fingers whipe my cheek, I guessed her lipstick left a mark on me.

"I wanted to see you...it's been a long time!" I said, but my Nana knew when I was lying.

"Let's go inside, I'll make some coffee and you'll tell me everything." She winked at me and made her way into the kitchen.

I coudln't keep anything from her!

Sophie's pov

The six of us, my parents, Mickey, Ash, Cal and me were now in the plane. It wasn't a long flight, but just enough for me to take a nap. I was really tired because I haven't slept a lot the night before. I spent hours thinking about the outfits I'll bring with me.

I was sitting between Ash and Micheal, as Calum sat next to my mom and dad. They talked at the beginning of the flight, but shortly after they were all knocked out. When I opened my eyes, I felt Micheal's eyes on me.

"Hey, Mickey!" I said, my voice still off from the sleep I just got.

"We are landing in a couple of minutes, I was about to wake you up." He told me. I looked up at him and saw the worry in his eyes.

"Is everything ok?" I asked him, my eyebrows furrowed together.

"Yes... It's just that... I texted Luke and he told me he wouldn't be here this week.. I am sorry Soph, I knew how you wanted to see him."

I hide the sadness in my heart and sent him a reassuring smile. I didn't want him to know that I was anxious about seeing my bestfriend, but now it just hit me.

I wouldn't be able to see him. And I can't explain why my heart couldn't support it.
