Sophie's pov
The operation was that day. We were all at the hospital, except from one person. Even Dylan was there. But, Luke left early that morning and we thought he would give us a call. Anyone really cared about it, since we were all focusing on my mother's situation.
I had only told the boys, except for Luke, about the operation in the morning. The operation was only at 5 pm so we decided to take it slow and we went to eat at the little breakfast restaurent at the end of my street, after waking up around nine am. Dylan also tagged along since he slept at mine last night. I was glad to see that, since my birthday party, Dylan and my friends were good. They could almost consider each others as friends.
No one was really speaking, since we were all exhausted. I could see it in their face. I, for my part, wasn't hungry, as usual. Dylan and Micheal had a little argument to decide who was going to pay for me.
"I am with her, so it's my responsability!" Dylan said, making me shrug. We were not together. Well, not really. Well..I didn't really knew...
Micheal finally gave up and Dylan ordered for me. A plate full of pancakes and fruits. Just at the mention of it, I could hear my stomach groan, which was a good thing and a sound I haven't heard in a while.

"So, I heard that you guys are going back on tour soon?" Dylan started the conversation.
Ashton nodded slowly, his mouth full of food.
"Yeah.. well, we are planning on going in a month or so, but we'll see." Calum answered, hesitant.
We'll see?
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
The boys mentally agreed on something I was about to find out, after looking at each others.
"We talked about it last night and we all agreed to push the tour for later."
I dropped my fork. Everybody was starring at me.
"What? Why!?" I asked.
"We want to be by your side during this hard moment of your life Soph. We want to be here for you. Family first, remember?"
At these words, a bunch of memories came back into my minds. When we were young, we used to say family first every time. It was our little chorus.
"I-I don't want you guys to change your tour dates. You are already here with me, I can't ask you for more. I am fine. I will be fine!" I said, sounding like a whispear at the end.
I felt Dylan's hand on my thight under the table. I didn't dare to look at him.
"Soph, you need us. We... We heard you cry last night." Ashton said, his voice full of sadness.
I hate when people see me cry. Or hear. I feel weak and I don't want people to think the same.
We all remain silence as we looked down at our plates. I was playing with my food as my cheeks were burning.
"Is everything fine here?" The high pitched and annoying voice of the waitress woke us up.
"Yeah, thank you." Dylan answered for us, making her leave.
Luke's pov
**the day before the operation**
I was taking a walk in the empty hallways of the hospital, while mostly everybody was sleeping. I couldn't get myself to, because the chairs weren't really comfortable.
I smiled to myself while thinking about Sophie and I and how things seemed to go back to normal. After half a year without talking, it sounded like we worked things out finally. She was able to look at me in the eyes and we had real conversations, just like before. When she was smiling, my heart skipped a beat. Even if she looked sick herself from the lack of sleep and worry, Sophie was the prettiest girl to me.
