Sophie's pov

I couldn't believe that Valery was in love. She was telling me all about Chris and her eyes lighten up, just as her smile grew up. She was blushing everytime he texted or called her and l found it so cute. I wasn't jealous of her. Val deserved her lovestory more then anybody else. And they were perfect for each other.

Chris, when l met him the first time, was a social guy and really sportive, just like Valery love. He was relly kind with me, and we get along very well. Chris became a good friend to me, and Valery couldn't be happier. They were together for more then four months now, and l could only wish them to last forever.

Since the Christmas dinner at my parent's house, back in December, I didn't talked to Luke. We were both in our own world, me trying to get good grades and him, hoping for more and more success. I skyped with Ashton, Calum and Micheal a couple of times and they even came to visit me when they were in town. I guided them all around  New York and we had a good time.

Of course, Luke was the only one left. He didn't agree to come in New York at the first place and l couldn't blame him. The boys never mentioned him unless if l did. They knew we were both, Luke and l, trying to move on.

My first year at Columbia was now done and the summer vacations were about to start. It was crazy how time went by so fast! With Chris and Val, we decieded to move in an appartment, the three of us together. Chris had a friend who wanted to join us, and l knew it was an idea of my bestfriend, who tried to find me a new guy.

"Vaaaaaal!" I groaned when she told me l had a date.

"Ok, ok! It's not a date, more like a first meeting between two person who will live in the same apartment!" She clapped her hands, excited.

I rolled my eyes, but let her put me in the shower and pick out my outfit.

"You know, l am seeing Dylan again..." I admitted. Valery sent me a disapproving glare. She hated him, even if she wasn't in my life when Dylan cheeted on me. Val was the kind of friend that knows everything about you and is ready to beat the ass of all the assholes from your past. I loved her so much.

"He is not the same, l swear!" I defended him. Dylan really did a lot of effort to change, and l appreciated that. Instead of Marcus, who was my "date" I would have much prefer to go out with my ex, but new love interest take 2, Dylan.

I texted Dylan a couple of months ago, wanting to know how he was. Of course, he told me he missed me a lot, and because l was in a weak period of my life, l fell for that. We went on a couple dates, but nothing became serious.  I needed him to know that I wasn't that easy to forgive. I didn't really know if l was hanging out with Dylan for the good reasons. At the beginning, l thought l did, but more l thought about it, more l realized that l wasn't happy with him either. He was more playing the role of a distraction and l felt like a slut. It wasn't my type to play with guy's feelings.

"Hopping Marcus will bring your beautiful smile back!" Valery told me, in a teasing tone, even if l knew she was serious. I would have love to smile again, a real smile, but it was hard. Everything was harder now.

The night went quite well. Marcus was a real gentlemen and a bit cheesy, which l hated. But he was nice and listenned to me while l talked to him about my miserable life. I saw him like a friend, but nothing more.

At the end, when we left the restaurent, l told him clearly that it wouldn't work between us, and he smiled sadly at me.

"I know, Sophie and you know why? Because you are still broken and aren't ready to let anyone enter your heart yet. I understand. And l think we will have an amazing friendship!" He winked.

I worked for the rest of the summer, saving money for the appartment. It was a big appartment at the fourteen floor of a building. It was more like a studio, but with three rooms. I had to decorate mine the way l wanted and decieded to go with a classic look. My bed was in the middle of the room, with a desk in front of my huge window and my other wall was covered with pictures from my childhood, to prom, graduation and my new Friends. The boys were there on many pictures and l even chose to put Luke on my wall. He was on most of my pictures, l wasn't going to cut the pictures!

My parents came to visit me and so they could meet the people l would live with. They easily agreed with my choice of friends, saying to Valery that she was just as lovely as l had described her and telling me that Marcus was so sweet. They hoped for me to find a guy like him. My father understood that l wasn't ready for any lovestory tho, because the injury inside of my chest was too recent.
