"Roman..." I looked over to see Patton smiling. "So... Do you like them?" I looked down at my pancakes and smiled.
"There even better than my mothers." He beamed and laughed, waving me off.
"Oh, don't say that. I'm sure your mother wouldn't like to hear that." I frowned and looked down at my plate. Patton stopped and looked at me with concern. "Was it something I said?"
"Nah, your good Pat. It's just... My mother she, uh..." His eyes went wide and I looked away.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know..."
"It's fine. I'm the one who brought her up." Pat looked down and I could tell the air was tense. I sighed and awkwardly rubbed the back of my neck. "So, Pat. I should get going. I have a job to get to."
"Sure thing Kiddo. I'll let Virgil know you've gone." I narrowed my eyes and looked around. "He's not here." I turned to look at him again and was taken back by the seriousness in his eyes. "Listen here, Roman. My son is not someone you can play around with. If you hurt him, I'll break you."
"Jeez, Pat." He raised an eyebrow at me and leaned in closer. It honestly scared the shit out of me.
"I like you, Roman. I do, but I refuse to allow my son to get his heart broken. He's been through enough as it is. So if I find out that you hurt him. I will make it so you wish you never met us. Understand?" I just nodded unable to say anything. His innocent smile came back and my face paled. Pat ain't as innocent as he makes himself seem. "Okie doki then. I'm so happy I got to meet you."
"Yeah... Back at ya, Pat."
As soon as I left the cave I was in shock. Last night it was snowing, and it only got worse when got here. It as practically a storm... Where's the snow?
I looked up to see Patton looking down from the cliff side and I got confused. It looked like it was summer out it. Not one bit of snow. What did it melt or something? I shook myself from my thoughts and pushed on ahead.
I made it back to town and sighed. I got nothing from my trip. Then again it was late and I was stupid. It's fine though. I only went to scope the area out. Today marks day one of my quest and I will be successful. This is my first dragon quest. This is what's going to make me known as a Dragon Slayer.
I walked around, going into and out of stores, looking for anything that could be useful. There wasn't much. Heroes are few and far between, so not many cater to them. That's precisely why I want to be one though. My kingdom needs one. They need me. I'll let Logan man the armies and everything. I'll be on the frontlines. A soldier of hope and strength... A hero.
"Roman?" I spun around to see Logan standing there, a look of surprise on his face. We both stood there frozen outside the guild unable to say a word.
"Logan?" He smiled and ran to him pulling him into a hug. One of his guards tensed up and I pulled away laughing awkwardly. "Sorry."
"Don't be I've missed you, little brother." I smiled brightly and took Logan's hand dragging him inside so we could talk. The one guard just looked so confused. He must be new. I guess father actually went through with cutting me out. That's fine though... I'm perfectly fine with Prince Roman being forgotten... Because that is that what I want to be remembered for.
"What are you doing here?!" I asked as we sat at one of the booths. Everyone just stared at us and I shot them all looks. They quickly turned away and I saw Logan roll his eyes. "Logan?"
"I came to request service."
