I stood there staring at the mountain and I groaned. I listened to Logan. I followed his advice. And now I'm back here, even though I am scared shitless. I took a deep breath, looking up at the morning sky, and walked inside. It's now or never.

"Patton?" I opened the door peeking inside to find it empty... well, not empty, just quiet. "Virgil?" I heard a loud breath and I ducked behind the couch, seeing a large head start to look around. The dragons still here?! Of course, it is Roman! That's the whole reason you're even here. FOCUS! "Ok, just got to stand up... Just got to stand... up."

I took a deep breath and looked over at the dragon, who was back to sleep. I inched my way over to him with shaky breaths and unstable steps. It knew someone was there, their senses are amazing, but it didn't seem to care. It was either very trusting or it thought I was someone else... Honestly, It was probably both.

"Hey... there..." I whispered as I hesitantly reached out. It huffed blowing out a puff of smoke in response to my voice. I froze and it just moved it's head closer to me. I sighed kicking myself in the ass for getting myself into this, but still... I reached out again, placing my hand on its nose and I swear it started to purr. Do dragons purr? How did I not know this? It slowly moved it's tail as if making room for me to lay with it. I just looked at it with confusion.

"You want me to lay with you?" It huffed again in response, refusing to open its eyes.  I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. Get to know it he said. Learn for yourself he said. If I get burned alive I am so haunting your ass, Logan! "Ok, then."

I cautiously laid down tensing up as it moved it's tail back, wrapping me up like in a blanket. It was warm, really warm. I looked over at it and it moved it's head in closer till it was touching me. I felt like it was guarding me and supporting me. I reached out again this time petting its and it breathed out this warm and relaxing hot air. I found myself smiling without even realizing it. Maybe... Maybe Pat was right... Maybe Logan was too.

"Maybe I should get to know you before jumping to conclusions, huh?" It nuzzled into me some more and I smiled again, letting myself relax and snuggle up to it. "Now don't go burning me ok?" I said with a laugh and I swear I heard it groan, which only made me laugh more as I closed my eyes.

I heard a door close and I jumped up, causing the dragon to push farther into me as if it didn't want me to leave him. I watched as Patton slowly made his way over to us with this confused look on his face.

"Roman?" I burring myself into the dragon's tail, trying to hide the blush of embarrassment. "Well, I honestly wasn't expecting you to come back."

"I wasn't going to..." I mumbled as I buried myself deeper. I watched Pat walk over to the dragon and pet his nose smiling.

"Do you mind letting Roman go, kiddo? Dad's got to talk to him." I watched as the dragon moved his tail letting me go, but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the warmth. I looked up at Pat and smiled awkwardly grabbing his hand and allowing him to pull me up. "So does this mean you're going to let him live?"

"It means I'm going to get to know him." He smiled and looked over at the dragon happily.

"The best way to get rid of an enemy... Is to make it a friend."
