44. The grip of insanity

It's only been a day or two, but in the dreamscape, it's felt like months. I've been practicing and learning new things. Even Remi showed up to teach me a bit. Doesn't matter if I can't get out of these chains.

"Rise and shine sleepy head." I felt someone slap my face and I grimaced at the sting in my cheek. I opened my eyes to see Deceit standing there holding a remote happily in his hand. "You've been out cold, Roman. Are you feeling ok? Do you think you coming down with something? Maybe..."

"Cut... t-to t-the chase.... a-assh... hole." Deceit smiled at the stutter I always get when I'm to far from Virgil for too long. I just wanted to scream. Just you fucking wait Deceit. I have something planned just for you. He stepped back and waved the remote in his hands before pointing it behind him and pressing the power button. Suddenly the wall came to life with video feed from what I assumed to be different parts of the castle grounds.

"I had this set up while you were in lala land. It's so you can see the show."

"W-What show?" His eyes lit up as this devious grin formed on his lips.

"He's here, Roman." My eyes went wide as one of the tv's flickered revealing a very pissed off looking Virgil standing there in the driveway. Deceit smiled and set the remote on the table before heading to leave. "You just stay here and watch. I've got a part to play."

I barely even noticed he left. I just stared at the screen watching as Virgil walked down the driveway. Everything was bursting into flames around him and I couldn't help but start to shake. The pain he must be in. The things his head must be telling him. I fell this intense burning rage rip through me and I just stared in shock. His smile...

Several guards ran out and I wanted to scream at them to run. The look on Virgil's face... You could see the insanity rolling off of him like a thick smog, toxic to those who dare to come near him. I just wanted to take all his pain away. I want to see him smile... a real one, not the insane one he has right now.

I saw the lights explode are him and got a sudden chill. I dared a peek at another screen and spotted Deceit walking into this throne room. I watched as he sat down on the throne and just glanced up at the camera waving at me before sitting back and closing his eyes. Seriously? It's like he really wants to die. 

I looked back at Virgil and my eyes went wide. There were already two people dead. One on his stomach bleeding out while the other was burnt to a crisp. Virgil just stood there staring at one of the bodies almost disappointed. This... This isn't who he his anymore... This is who he was. He's gotten past this. HE GOT BETTER!

I'M SERIOUSLY GOING TO MAKE DECEIT PAY FOR THIS!

I watched with a blank expression as Virgil jumped back dodging and sidestepping every advance another guard was trying to make. It was effortless and almost like a dance. He wasn't even trying. HE HAD ONE OF HIS HAND IN HIS POCKETS!  

Next thing I knew the man fell forward holding onto his stomach as he bled through his shirt. I cringed as Virgil grabbed a sword and I looked away before I could see what happened next. It's not like I'm shy about violence. I'm not. I've seen my fair share of blood. I just... I know that Virgil must be suffering so much. This... This is nothing but fuel to the fire for him. By the time I looked another body was added. He just stared at it all with this bored expression and cleaned his knife off slightly before walking inside. 

I struggled against the chains see him disappear from view. It was only for a second, though. I spotted him on another in some sort of hallway. More guards showed up and I frowned. Seriously. They need to realize they are no match for him. There no match for him when he isn't insane! I didn't even see Virgil move, but suddenly the two guards blew up into ash out of nowhere. Virgil just kept on walking not even amused at all. 

I watched as he suddenly stopped and turned around, noticing two more guards blocking his way out. He just smirked and raised an eyebrow at them in disbelief. Probably think that they were being stupid. He didn't need an escape. He knew what he was doing and had the strength to do it. This was someone who's seen his fair share of battles. I'm so sorry Virgil. If I never let myself get caught off guard, Deceit never would have been able to send you back into your insanity.

My eyes widened in horror as Virgil held his arms out in front of him crossed and poised. The walls began to crack and glow with such intensity, this pit filled my stomach. He swung his arms out to the side and brought them back clasping his hands with such speed and force. Suddenly the camera went dead and I started freaking out. If he ok? What did he even do? Where did the video go What happened? Virgil?!

I searched the other camera's until I finally spotted Virgil. He was standing in front of the doors with this blank expression. Another guard held his sword out and Virgil smiled. My eyes went wide as I saw Virgil snapping the guy's neck. I never saw him move. Just how fast is he?!

I watched as he pushed past the doors and I frowned. I looked over at the screen that Deceit was in and sure enough there was Virgil, walking in with a big smile on his face. He crossed his arms and I groaned at the sick smile Deceit had on his lips as he glanced up at the camera, clearly happy that I was able to watch it all. That was his plan, right? To show me Virgil's insanity? To show me what he's capable of? The thing is everyone is capable of any feat of violence. Nothing is truly unimaginable otherwise it would never have been done in the first place by anyone. Even war would be nonexistent. NOTHING THAT SNAKE CAN SHOW ME WILL CHANGE HOW I FEEL ABOUT VIRGIL!

I narrowed my eyes as Deceit took off running. Virgil just stood there in utter shock until shaking himself out of it and visibly screaming. I couldn't hear it of course. There was no audio but I could tell he was pissed. I watched him disappear and I frowned. None of the other cameras caught them after that. And I was in the dark...

Virgil...
