"We have a lot to discuss." I narrowed my eyes and sat next to Virgil, who was sound asleep. Logan just sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I think it's time you tell us what you learned on your trip."

"My trip?" Logan narrowed his eyes and I just shook my head. "I didn't go to spy, Logan. I didn't get anything that could help. Besides..." I started drumming my fingers on the arm of the couch and sighed. "I got caught."

"You went to Ce..."

"SHUT UP!" I cut him off seeing Virgil squirm and Logan frowned. "Virgil doesn't know where I went. I would like to keep it that way."

"Why... where..."

"He went to Ceit, Patton." Patton tensed up and looked up at me with shock. "Apparent, Father sent him on a mission."

"Not a mission. He wanted me to do some research. Which I did." Logan just rolled his eyes as he sat down at his desk. He started pulling papers up and he groaned. "Look I'm not going to apologize for going, Logan. I did learn a lot."

"But nothing that would help... as you stated." I didn't know what to do. I couldn't reveal what happened without exposing Ero. I don't want that to happen. Logan doesn't know about Ero. The last thing I want is for either of them to get hurt. "Please tell me you at least saw something."

"Deceit's dragon is fucking scary as shit." I whispered and felt Virgil tense up a bit. I looked down to see his eyes still closed and sleeping but...

"Roman, please."

"I didn't see much. I went to their Library of Dragon's and then..." Logan raised an eyebrow at me and I rolled my eyes. "And then Deceit took me to see some dragons. Which I now know to be a trap. One He obviously wasn't able to snag me in ok?"

"Why did you go to the Library? You never were one for research." I groaned and felt Virgil wrap his arms around me like he was trying to make sure I was really there.

"I wanted to know more about riders and their connection to dragons. Father was pretty adamant that I learn since I knew nothing about dragons, to begin with."

"Funny considering you want to be a slayer."

"I. do. not." Logan narrowed his eyes at me in confusion and Patton tried to hide back a smile. I never actually voiced it before. I hadn't truly thought what I wanted over but... I couldn't imagine ever hurting Ero. Being a slayer just seemed... wrong now. "I don't want to be a slayer."

"Your kidding right?" Logan pinched the bridge of his nose and I started to feel a little squeamish. "You left. You left everything to be a hero... a damn dragon slayer and now you're telling me it was for nothing."

"LOGAN!" We both looked over at Patton who was straightening himself out. "Ceit is going to be attacking in a few days time. Now is not when we should be having petty quarrels."

"Your right, Pat... like usual." Logan huffed and Patton beamed. I think he likes being right. " We need to figure out a battle plan."

"Janus's going to attack Mt. Diablo first." I froze looking down to see Virgil laying their eyes open but still holding tightly to me. "He'll attack there first and then make a beeline for the castle. That is if he's actually here for the premise of war."

"What do you mean kiddo?" Virgil pulled himself away and brushed back his hair as he took a deep breath. "You don't think he..."

"Janus isn't the type of person to give up. He'll attack Mt. Diablo first and depending on the outcome. He might go home."

"I don't see how that is..."

"Jan doesn't give two shits about his father's war. I bet you it isn't even his father's war. It's just a tool... an excuse to give him what he really wants." Virgil cut Logan off cause him to just get more confused. I was lost. Why was Virgil calling Deceit Janus? Did I miss something?

"And what's that, Virgil?" Logan asked as he pushed his glasses up.

"Power. What else"

Several hours later and I found myself just sitting there staring at the ceiling. Virgil was once again fast asleep cuddling up to the pillows on my bed. I don't know what to do. Virgil had started to fall asleep halfway through so... I sent him in here to rest. He was obviously exhausted. So he missed half the talk. He missed half the plan. He missed my part in it.

"Hey, Virgil?" I heard him groan as he hugged the pillow tighter and I smiled. I got up and laid down beside him, with the pillow in between us. I reached out brushing his hair back and saw a small smile form on his face. "I love you."

He groaned again as he pushed his face farther into the pillow and I laughed. My smile died and I looked out the window. I'm going to have to say goodbye to Ero too. Shit... A sad smile formed on my face as the tears began to fall. I never thought I would hate the idea of fighting on the front lines. Then again, it's not the fighting I found to hate. The possibility of not coming back. The possibility of never seeing Virgil again...

It's the thought of losing them both for good.
