Ok so now everything starts, I thought as I paced around the arena waiting for Logan to make an appearance. The room was filled with soldiers and I just felt out of place, standing there in my princely outfit. I haven't worn it in forever and it just made me feel awkward. I looked around the room at all the people and sighed. They all knew what was going on. We were going to war... With the kingdom of Ceit. The only kingdom that managed to tame dragons. Damn dragon riders!
"So how did everything go?" I looked up to see Logan beside me, staring out into the crowd. "You know, with your boyfriends... friend."
"He's not my boyfriend," I said trying to hide the blush that covered my face. "And it went fine... so far."
"Have faith, Brother, not everything is as it appears to be."
"Yeah, I got that much." I looked over at the archery ranged and cringed. Our bows and arrows won't do anything against the dragons armored skin. I started to shake as the dark thought began to could my mind.
"Roman... I fear that you may be making the wrong choice here." I shot him a confused look and he smiled sadly. "I told you I needed you but... I will not take you from the life you've made for yourself. You have someone to worry about you. Don't make the same mistake I did."
"You've never spoken about what happened before." His eyes darkened and I saw him take a shaky breath.
"That's because I didn't think I had the right to." He looked up at the sky and I saw his eyes start to well up. "It's been years but... I still miss him. I still love him. But I made my choice, don't make the same one."
"Logan..."
"I chose my duty and my kingdom over the man I loved... and I lost him. I don't want to see you do that too. The pain I saw in his eyes cuts me even today. He was just so sweet and caring. But at that moment that bright smile I fell for turned into hate and it was the worst day of my life."
"Lo..."
"He was the best thing that ever happened to me, Roman. His laugh was like music. His smile the sun... He brightened every room he walked into. He cared for everyone and everything. He took a chance on me despite my closed off nature and broke past my walls."
"You really loved him, huh." He looked over at me as his tears began to fall.
"I almost ran away with him..." My eyes went wide and he smiled sadly. "...Not doing it was the hardest decision I made."
"And he left you for that?!" He shook his head and his looked down lost in the memory of what happened.
"I left him, Roman." Again, I was taken back by the raw emotion in his voice. "He made me weak. He made me question what I wanted. If I wanted this life. He made me want more. I couldn't... I just couldn't. I couldn't leave you with all this when I knew you wanted out."
"Do you really think I care about that?! I wanted out yes but not at the cost of your happiness. If you loved him, you should have followed your heart." He glanced back at me with the same serious expression Patton had and I tensed up.
"Do. Not. Make. The. Same. Mistake!" I just stood there in shock and confusion. "Go home, Roman. Go be with him, before its too late."
"Fine... But I will be back. You can't push me away too. I won't let you."
