Mariah's POV

Lacey and Key were hiding something, I just need to figure out what. In all actuality, Lacey has been acting a bit funny tonight and it all started when Key got here.

Did she like him? That can't be it. Lacey has already made it known that she likes Chaz... Did they have a secret fling? Nope, that can't be it either; Lacey can't keep a secret to save her life.

Then it all clicked into place. Leya mentioned something about Key wanting my number. Lacey is going out of her way to make sure that I don't give it to him, but why?

Lacey had a cheshire grin on her face, like she had just won....a bet.

I was a bit upset at first, but what's better than getting even?

I began to devise a way to get them back.

"So Lacey, Chaz and I need you to settle a debate. Where is the best restaurant to eat at after a night out on the town? Chaz thinks that's its Chinto's, but I believe Papa Pedro's is better."

"Well, I hate to tell you this, but you're both wrong. If we were talking about just anywhere to eat, I would say that Mariah's food is the best. Since we're talking about restaurants tho, I would have to say.... Chilli's."

I already knew that Lacey loved my cooking. When she invites me over she never cooks, instead she asks if I can do it instead. Since Lacey can't boil water, I don't mind cooking.

Key turned to me, "Well love, it seems like none of us can agree. How about you help us decide."

I could see Lacey making eyes at me so that I would agree with her, but she knows that I have wanted to try Papa Pedro's since forever. I looked at her and she shook her head.

"Hey, no cheating," Key said.

"Well.....I have never been to Papa Pedro's, but I have been dying to try it."

"And we have a winner. So, double date say.... tomorrow night. Where are we picking you up from?"

Okay, so that took a turn that I wasn't expecting.

When I looked at me he already had on that sexy smirk, as he held out his phone.

"If you don't put you number in love, how will I know where to pick you up? You didn't answer when I asked so I assumed you and Lacey wanted to discuss it later."

So he thought it was going to be that easy, did he? I grabbed the phone and began to put my "number" in. Ah, the sweet taste of revenge.

Then Lacey began to laugh. When I
handed him back the phone he knew the game was over. Instead of putting in my number, in the spot where it says name, I put, "Nice try, but Lacey already told me about the bet."

"That's a breach of contract."

"Exactly, now neither of you get the money. You shouldn't be making deals about me in the first place." With that I blew a kiss and said, "Goodnight boys," as Lacey and I walked away."

"How did you find out about the bet?"

"It was all in you mannerisms, you though that you could hide that cheshire grin that transforms your face whenever you feel like you're winning a bet? Honestly I could tell that Key was trying to get my number, but I couldn't figure out why. That smile put everything into perspective."

"And this is why I never make best with you."

"Regardless, you love me," I said as I blew her a kiss.

"Always babes, she replied."

When I dropped her home she asked, "So, do you want to go on the double date tomorrow? I would really like to get a chance to spend more time with Chaz, but I understand if you felt awkward about the whole situation."

"Well... I don't know Lace. " of course I had to make her worry a bit after the night she put me through.

"Key is nice and all, but.... I think he only invited me to be nice. They're your friends... How bout you just go and have a night out with them.

"I can assure you that Key is never nice. He likes you."

I put my head down like I just felt so bad for hurting her feelings. I could feel the tension in the air, as I pushed a few strands of hair behind my ear. I looked up at Lace, and I saw the look of defeat in her eyes.

"I guess we can go for a little while," before the words fully left my mouth, she was screaming and hugging me. There was never a dull moment with this girl.

"So I will meet you back here tomorrow around...."

Lacey's phone pinged, "It's Key."

Mr. Annoying: Hey Lace doll, we didn't discuss a time to go out. Would the two of you be ready around 8?
Me: Let me check with Rye n get back to u.
Mr. Annoying: How did the two of you become friends? She is your complete opposite. She is sweet and kind but knows when to b feisty. You are a hot mess.
Me: At least I'm hot, but mind your business. Ya kno, I'm starting to regret being your friend.
Mr. Annoying: I don't regret being yours. Now I have a date with that cute friend of yours and u have Chaz. Even trade.
Me: That's the only reason I keep you around.
Mr. Annoying: Tell my cutie I said tomorrow is a new day, and her number is as good as mines.

Lacey shook her head and began to laugh. "You really got under his skin Rye. He is not used to hearing the word 'No'. Maybe you should give him a shot."

"I don't know, maybe after I get to know him a bit better I can make a decision."

"He really is a great guy."

She showed me the texts on her phone. His cutie huh, I could live with that. As far as giving him my number, well we will have to just wait and see.
