Mariah's POV
Leya walked into the shop with the biggest smile on her face. I wonder what she has ok n her mind...... Actually, on second thought, maybe I really didn't want to know.
"Guess what Rye!!!"
Someone is extremely bubbly this morning.
"What?"
"Lacey will be here soon. We talked last night, and she agreed to take care of the show today. You, on the other hand, will be spending the day with me. Lacey showed me a few of your designs and I need you to create one for me. I kind of need it ASAP."
"It takes time to create a dress. Art is genius. Art takes a while to create. Therefore, you can't rush genius."
She pulled out my sketchbook and showed me one of my more recent drawings.
It was a black high-low dress. The top had an intricate lace pattern, and the bottom had a simple lace overlay.
"You're lucky I have already started on this dress. I am actually almost done. I need to know more about the person who will be wearing the dress, that way I can add on if I need to."
"I don't think you will need to add on.... My friend is about the same height as you. Just do like you're making the dress for yourself. "
Three hours later, I had this masterpiece. It was beautiful.
"Do you think your friend will like it?"
"She will love it! OMG. This dress is magnificent. Now I need you to come with me to the hair salon. They will do one design in your hair and one in mines. This will help me decide which one I like the best."
"Okay, but I have to return to the shop eventually. I don't want to make Lacey close by herself."
"We will be back before then. Let's go."
We went to a little salon right off of Main St. When we walked in, there were two chairs waiting for us.
It took then about 10 minutes to do my hair, and Leya was done in about 15 minutes.
My hair was light and airy. The curls were shiny and bouncy. It was a sophisticated look.
Leya had a curly up do.
On the end, we decided that the loose curls were best. From there we went shoe shopping. The dress would look perfect with these black booties. It's a bit of a daring look to pull off, but when paired together, it was almost magical.
By the time we finished everything on Leya's list, Lacey had already closed the boutique. She finally dropped my home around 7:30. She convinced me to try the dress and shoes on so she could see the "total package."I was just getting ready to change when the doorbell rang. That's odd, I wasn't expecting company. When I looked through the peephole, all I could see were roses. I opened the door and there stood Key.
He grabbed my hand and put it to his lips. "Hello, beautiful. I've missed you."
I could feel a blush staining in my cheeks. He held me close as we stood together on the porch. "Are you ready for our date tonight?" He asked as I took a step back.
"What date?"
"Leya didn't tell you? I asked her to help you get ready for our date tonight. I wanted to take you to see The Nutcracker, and then we could grab something to eat."
"So that's what this was all about. Wait until I see Leya. She got me good today, the little trickster."
"She did a great job. You look good enough to eat. Maybe we should just skip dinner and go straight to dessert."
"Sorry, once you promise me food, there is no changing your mind."
He grabbed my hand and we began walking to his car. He opened the door so that I can get in. As he walked around to his door, I was able to see the suit he was wearing. I loved the color. There was even a bit of black in it to compliment my dress.
He was just so handsome, and for the night he was all mines.
When he entered the car, he said, "You know, if you take a picture you can stare at me all day long." He bit his lip and winked at me.
