Tyler groaned as he slowly regained consciousness. He slowly opened his eyes and blinked several times before he could finally keep them open. The first thing, or rather person, he saw was Evan.
Tyler narrowed his eyes and looked around as he realised they were at the back of a building. And he was handcuffed.
"You motherfucker." -He spat.
"I told you we could've done this the easy way." -Evan commented.
"Get up. We're going."
Yet Tyler made no effort to move.
"I swear to God, I will kick your ass again if you don't get up."
"Oh yeah? You didn't kick my ass back there either, you're lucky you had a taser nearby." -He retorted and chuckled.
Evan rolled his eyes.
"You're right, you would've won that fight. But trust me, you won't win the next one."
"We'll see." -Tyler said and smirked.
Knowing his options were limited due to the cuffs on his hands, he decided he'd oblige this time, and stood up.
Evan eyed him for a moment before turning around and beginning to walk, Tyler following right behind him.
"Where the hell did you get cuffs?" -Tyler asked after awhile.
"I'm a cop, remember?"
"I know, but you had them on you the entire time?"
"No, I had them with me the first time we met David. When we got to the apartment, I left them in my room since I figured I wouldn't need them for now, just like my gun and taser. Wow, was I wrong." -Evan laughed, annoying Tyler.
"How did you get me down anyway?" -He asked.
"With great difficulty. I should've just threw you down. That would've made my descend a lot easier." -Evan said.
They made no further conversation as they kept walking. Eventually, they reached Evan's neighborhood, and finally arrived at his house. Evan fished out his keys and unlocked the door.
The pair entered the house. Evan immediately darted upstairs into his room and Tyler stayed put in the front hall.
Evan grabbed a backpack and threw it on his bed. He packed his phone charger, laptop, and despite liking his new clothes, he had to bring his favorite red jacket.
He brought a few more things before ziping up the backpack and heading back downstairs. He noticed Tyler had not left the front hall and waited there.
As soon as he came downstairs, Tyler turned to him and spoke.
"You're done?" -He asked.
"Yeah, I only needed to grab a few things." -Evan replied.
They exited his house and Evan locked the door. Tyler started walking away but Evan stopped him.
"We're not walking back, we're taking my car." -He said.
That's when he noticed the black Toyota Camry parked in the driveway.
"Won't David notice an extra uknown car in the parking lot?" -Tyler asked as they sat down inside.
"He probably already figured out we're gone anyway, if not, then he won't notice." -Evan said, starting the car.
They drove back and Evan parked the car behind a few bigger cars so it was at least somewhat hidden. They found it weird that no one followed them back or waited for them at the parking lot, so they assumed no one found out they snuck out yet.
They decided they'll climb back up using the balconies. Evan had to uncuff Tyler for that, and he kept his guard up just in case Tyler attacked him as soon as he freed him.
But, interestingly enough, he didn't.
After entering their apartment, they both went to sleep and, due to their tiring day, they fell asleep quickly.
~~~
Weirldy enough, when morning arose and David came to pick them up, he didn't call them out for secretly leaving the apartment. Tyler and Evan both shrugged it off and act as if nothing had happened, thinking they'll find out soon enough.
At LAAU, Natalie was preparing a new mission for them. She and David discussed it whilst Evan and Tyler were stuck waiting in their office.
"It's a search and rescue type. Should be easy enough for them, no?" -She suggested.
"I seriously doubt they'll bring the hostage back alive. Give me something else." -He dismissed.
Natalie rolled her eyes and shuffled through the files.
"Hmm, how about this one? You need to acquire a stolen hard drive with info on LAAU's members. A small team of two is recommended to be sent in."
"Are you kidding? I'm not sending them in alone."
Natalie sighed.
"Seriously David? You don't trust them?"
"No. And even if I did, they still suck at working together. And I don't want our mission to depend on two idiot children."
"Then don't. Once they acquire the drive, just tell them to call you guys as backup and you take more men to infiltrate once the drive is in our possesion."
"No. They'll have a free day today and tomorrow we'll find something else."
Natalie was about to protest but David already walked away. She sighed again and started putting the files away. But then she got an idea as she glanced back at the drive retrieval file again.
She grinned and placed it back on her desk as she scrolled through some files on her computer. Seeing as David would be super busy with paperwork today, he wouldn't notice the two dumbasses gone.
She finished up her shift at the reception and grabbed the file, racing to the elevator to get to their office. She burst through the door with a wild smile on her face.
"Get up boys, you're goin' on a mission!" -She announced using an overly-cheerful tone.
Tyler and Evan briefly exchanged questioning glances.
"David said we're not going anywhere today." -Evan spoke.
"Yeah, well I'm saying you are. Come on, let's go go go!"
She hurried the confused pair out of the room and rushed them to the briefing room.
