Jennieʼs POV.
Three days and Lisa hasn't come back yet. Did I get ditched again? Questions flooded my mind, and I can't help but feel disappointed. I'm glad Dad was available, and I got to stay at his place.
She said she wanted to court me, yet left me again.
I hovered over to take my phone to the side table, and there was not even a single text from her. What am I still doing waiting for her? She is not going to show her face to me anymore.
Was it only a game for Lisa? Am I only a game? I started to wonder if it was a good idea to be courted by her.
I quickly shrugged off the thoughts in my head when I heard someone slowly opening my door. It's my dad. "Hi, honey. I noticed that you've been down. I just wanted to check up on you if you're okay," My dad scratches the back of her head.
It only reminded me of Lisa and her awkwardness. It made me feel more upset than I ever was. "I'm okay, Dad." I hugged my teddy tighter.
"Sweetie, I know when you're upset. Is it the boy again? I can have him beaten up." I rolled my eyes behind my big teddy.
"No, Dad. We're long gone."
He clears his throat, and that is one of his mannerisms when he's being awkward. "Then, what's wrong?" I shook my head no. "Come on, you can tell your olʼ pal anything."
He sat next to me and took away my bear. He wipes the tears that I wasn't aware I had. I hugged him and cried harder. I didn't know I felt this much distress. "Dad —"
He hushed me and continued to hug me tighter. After some time, my tears ran out. "Who is it that made you feel this way, honey?"
I hesitated but said it anyway. "Lisa." I look at him to catch him frowning.
"A girl?" I nodded. He is in such deep thought.
"Are you angry because I like a girl?" I don't expect my dad to be homophobic. He's nicer than many people think. "Please, don't be mad, Dad."
He sighs, "I'm not mad. I'm just shocked." He mumbled. "Did you and Lisa do something together?" I sensed he was getting uncomfortable, and so was I.
Sorry, Dad, but I might have to lie. "No. She's been nice to me." He nods, and his shoulder calmed down.
"You should rest now, my Jennie." He kisses my forehead before leaving.
A few minutes later, Dad went downstairs, and I heard shouts. I sneaked behind the door, pressing my ear.
I heard mumbles, but some words were audible for me to catch. "You lied to me! I thought you guys were safe and had a lot of rules about this!"
I went back to hugging my teddy. I'm just glad he's not mad at me and Lisa. It's just business talk that he's angry about.
-
I woke up with a bang on my window. I scanned my room to find my clock. It's 4:30 in the morning. The person better has a good reason to wake me up.
I jumped out of bed and opened my balcony. I looked at every part of my balcony floor. "What the fuck?" I questioned while scanning around my balcony.
It's filled with rocks and pebbles. I looked down to see Lisa grinning, holding a flower in hand. I scoffed, rolling my eyes. That made her arch her brows in confusion.
"What did I do?" She mumbled. "Okay, maybe I did something, but can you not forgive me?"
"No, get out of my house. How did you even know I'm here?"
"I traveled so far just to give you these flowers, see?" She waves her hand along with the flowers.
"I never asked you to come here. You left without saying a word. I'm upset with you." I crossed my arms.
"Can I at least explain?" She said that before, she still left me.
"You said that before. I don't trust you."
"Please, this will be the last time I'm going to explain to you," She is on her knees now.
"You promise to tell me the whole truth?" She nods furiously. "Meet me by the front door."
Her eyes grew big, "No, don't do that! Your dad is going to kill me." She panicked.
"Then how are you going to get up here?"
"Come downstairs, and let's go somewhere no one can see us." I nodded, getting ready. I slowly went downstairs and sneaked out of the house. "Hi." She smiled widely, trying to hug me, but I refused and pushed her head to the side.
"Not until I get my explanation." She nods.
