Lisa's POV

"I got the Papers of his club and stuff. I'll transfer the name to you boss" I told my boss but she stopped me.

"Nonsense, that club should be in your care now, it's doing well, so I give that to you as a gift for being loyal and for being my daughter from another mother, Lisa." She says, I stood there, shocked and speechless.

I worked for this woman for years. She has always shown me kindness despite my attitude. She is truly my mother, but not by blood. She cares for me when my mother isn't present due to my constant moving in and out.

"Thank you so much." I hug my boss, a rare emotion only I show to those I truly appreciate, and she's one of them.

"You're a real businesswoman now, Lisa." She grins. "Keep the club alive for me, okay?" She pats my head.

I nod. "I won't let you down, ma'am," I told her before leaving her office.

I went straight to the club to check how things are going, and it is indeed going well as the boss had told me. I can't believe she gifted me something this profitable.

I introduced myself to everyone and hired an agent as I want to check everyone's background, every worker and every regular customer. If I'm going to run this club? It should be clean and legal.

I sit in the office and plan how I'm going to change things, especially this musty office.

I fucked around with his files and found documents about his illegal misdeeds. I went through each document and sighed, he has issues with other elites, how could this guy know elites if he's only a club owner?

Confusing but I'd rather think about it tomorrow, I had enough digging for one day, I should just wait for my agent's report if I want to dig deeper into this case. I took my things and grabbed the important files that I needed for this club before going home.

"I'm home!" I said, I was taking off my coat when I saw my mother and Jennie peeking through the kitchen.

I was not home for 2 days, so was Jisoo. Jisoo came home first, she's resting with my brother in the living room, her eyes distant. "Hey." I pat Jisoo's shoulder, acting as if nothing happened.

Jisoo jumped a little at my gesture, I squinted my eyes, maybe she's still shocked by what happened 2 days ago. "You straight?"  I whispered to Jisoo who gave me a nod. "Let's go to my office."
I told her.

I went to greet my brother, and the two important women in my life. I side-hugged my mother, then turned to kiss Jennie on the shoulder and cheek. "I'll be in my office for now, honey," I told Jennie before going down to the basement with Jisoo.

"So, you're jumpy," I said as I looked at how she was fidgeting with her ring, clearly anxious.

Jisoo scratches the back of her neck, I knew it bothered her. "Is this what we really do?" I give a simple nod, pouring her a glass of Whiskey as we talk, you can never talk sober when it comes to this.

She continues, "I know they have unforgivable sins, Lisa. But I just can't believe I took another man's life." Jisoo looks at her hands. "I'm tainted, corrupted, aren't I?" She facepalms, she's frustrated and stressed. "I shouldn't feel sympathy for people like him but whenever I close my eyes, I can't seem to forget his face."

I pat Jisoo's shoulder, knowing she needs someone who could understand her. "Jisoo, what you're feeling is normal. Guilt is normal. If I had known taking that task with you would create nightmares, I wouldn't have let the boss make you come with me."

"I wanted it too, I just need to learn how to manage my emotions. How do I do it?" Jisoo looks at me, she looks like she's pleading. I know she loves her job but things like this could be too much for a rookie.

I sit on my chair and take a huge sip of my whiskey. I cleared my throat from the burn. "Practice thinking logically and mentally detach yourself from sorts of emotions. But if you want someone to talk to, I'm here and also Jennie."

Jisoo's eyes widen. "Jennie knows what you do?"

Technically yes? "Technically, not the killing part though."

"So, we're going to continue to lie for the rest of our lives to live normally?" I paused and thought about it.

I don't want to lie to Jennie but things should be kept hidden, right?

She doesn't know I torture those people myself, she doesn't know she's sleeping next to a monster, she doesn't know I'm psychotic, she never questioned me before but now I'm thinking if I should ever tell her someday.

Then again, I don't want her to walk away from me out of fear.

"I don't know, Jisoo. But do what I say, it'll help." We both looked at each other, knowing our fates are fucked and we don't really know how to get away from it.

The door opens, revealing Jennie in an apron. My gorgeous, smart, and innocent girlfriend.

Jisoo and I changed our expressions as Jennie approached us. "Lunch is ready you two, help us with the table."

I nod following Jennie behind. "You reek of alcohol already." Jennie covers her nose, I pout. Jennie had always hated the smell of alcohol on me, she says it makes her nauseous, I should really stop if I want to sleep next to her.

We walked down the hall and I almost forgot. "Honey, I have good news for you." Jennie turns to look at me. I lean down to kiss Jennie's shoulder "I now own La Noire."

Jennie looks at me shock. "No way, that elite club? How?" Jennie eyes me skeptically.

"I'll tell you in our bedroom." I smile at her as I help Jungkook set the table.

Jisoo came after 10 minutes before us, maybe she had to think about what I said. I gave her a nod and she smiled at me before sitting down to eat.

Lunch is going smoothly, though, I can't help but think about what Jisoo had told me. Had I been lying to myself and to Jennie? Then I look to my side, Jennie is smiling and laughing with my mother, she's doing well with my family, and this is a sight that warms my cold contaminated heart.

She has the right to know at some point...

Right?
