Jennieʼs POV.

I'm here by myself — sitting down on a sofa in my empty home. It never felt this empty. Jisoo is still not home, and it's in the middle of the night. I received no text from everyone, especially the person I'm looking forward to talking to.

Maybe she's busy. I've been waiting for jisooʼs replies. I look through my phone to see my unseen messages. My lips let out a sigh. Looking through my texts, I sounded so desperate.

Maybe I am. I'm ready to risk it all for Lisa. I want to talk to her and get her to explain her side more clearly.

"Hey, Jennie. Why are you still up?" I looked over to Jisoo. She just entered and was taking off her shoes. I nod slowly, feeling a bit embarrassed. "What's wrong? Are you sick?"

I shook my head, looking down, playing with my fingertips. "No. I just wanted to ask you something."

"Ask away." She slumps down next to me.

I slightly paused. I do not know whether this was a good idea, to begin with. But I already thought about this so much, it would be a waste not to try. "I wanted to ask if you could ask Lisa to meet up with me."

She frowns. "She can't." she palms her face frustratedly. "I mean, not now. We are busy with other things."

She stood up, about to leave, but I grabbed her hand. Yes, I'm desperate. "Please, help me with this, Jisoo. I like Lisa a lot and — "

I heard a few faint sobs — she was crying. "It's because of you."

"Huh?" I'm so confused.

She rubs the tears that kept flowing down her face. "It's nothing. She's better off without you anyway." She tries to get away.

"What about me, Jisoo?" I assumed she could help me. Now she's blaming me for something? "Here I am, thinking you can help your cousin with such a simple request. But you can't. What a waste." I let go of her hand, walked near the wine cellar, and poured myself a drink.

She grits her teeth before letting out a sarcastic laugh. "I love you, Jennie, because you're my cousin. But what happened that day was your fault."

"What are you talking about?" I put down my drink before approaching her.

"Her condition is fucked up because of you." She again blames.

I felt fumes coming out of my body. "What the hell, Jisoo? Why are you blaming things I didn't do?" I tried grabbing her hands, but she yanked it away.

"You didn't do? If you weren't that much of a bitch she wouldn't be in that state!" She yells.

"What are you even talking about?" I crossed my arms. It's visible that I'm confused.

"Right, be so clueless, Jennie Kim." I've never seen Jisoo this mad and frustrated.

"Just tell me what happened!" I shout, making her stop.

She sits back down in the chair and covers her face. "Lisaʼs not well." My heart felt like it suddenly dropped. "She got into an accident, a car accident. It was the day she wanted to win you over or move on from you."

My knees gave in, and I fell to the floor. "W-what?" I'm in shock, so it's my fault? My eyes became foggy as I clenched my chest. Lisa is in an accident because of me?

"The way her crash happened was fatal. The front of the car was unrecognizable when they found it." She cries.

"W-where is she?" I shakily asked.

She wipes the remaining tears before standing back up again. "I'm not bringing you to her, Jennie. She's better off without you."

No, I can't let this happen. "Jisoo, please." I grabbed her by the hand and kneeled. Her eyes went wide at my sudden act — she tried dragging me up, but I kept kneeling. "Please, if this is what it takes for you to see that I'm honest with what I feel, so be it."

She insists that we can talk while I'm standing up, that what I'm doing is too much. "Stand up, Jennie." She tries to reach for my arms again.

I yanked her hands and continued kneeling. "No!"

"Don't be so stubborn, Jennie. There's nothing I can do to help you."

"There is." I snatched her hand and begged. "Let me take care of her at the hospital."

Jisoo rubs my hair carefully. "What if she wakes up?" It's visible that she's only worried about me hurting Lisa more.

"I'll be a grown woman and take what's bound to happen. I want to be there for Lisa."

"What do you truly feel for my friend, Jennie?" She slowly sits in front of me, rubbing my hand. "I don't want my best friend to be hurt and be in an accident again — she's the one who helped me when I was at my lowest and when I had nothing."

I can feel and see her gratitude for Lisa. Why didn't I think of that too? My cousin wouldn't be here with me if Lisa didn't help her.

"I like Lisa so much, Jisoo. It took me a while to figure things out. I was wrong to judge her." Jisoo reassuringly squeezed my hand. "It took a while for me to admit that I was wrong with my decision. I need and want Lisa in my life. She made me feel alive for once."

Jisoo nods. "Okay."

"Okay, what?"

"Get some rest for tonight, and by tomorrow, I'm bringing you to her." She pats my head before going inside her room.

Hold on tight for me, Lisa.

I love you.
