Hermione:
"Ms. Granger please calm down!" Professor McGonagall said for the fifth time as the frantic girl paced back and forth mumbling to herself.
"It was there. It was there. It ripped out it's heart. He ripped out it's heart. How did he do it? I just don't understand! HOW DID HE DO IT?!" She said repeatedly getting louder and louder.
Mcgonagall looked at Dumbledore and sighed. The old man rubbed his eyes and sighed as well. They had been trying to question the girl for nearly an hour and the most they had gotten was 'He ripped out it's heart but I don't know how'
Draco:
"My father is going to have a field day about this! Trolls! Blood! LOOK AT MY HAIR!" Draco screamed for the hundredth time "THERE IS BLOOD IN MY FUCKING HAIR!"
"Mr. Malfoy please refrain from using profanity-"
Dumbledore started
"DO YOU NOT SEE THE FUCKING BLOOD IN MY FUCKING HAIR?!" Draco screamed, trying to comb the blood out with his fingers and crying as it spread more in his silvery locks.
"-in my office..." Dumbledore finished with a sigh.
Ron:
"IT WAS BLOODY AWESOME, PROFESSOR! THEY WERE SCREAMING AND WE WENT IN! BAM! AND THEN WHOOSH! IT WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE STALLS! BANG! AND HARRY RAN FORWARD AND SWISH AND FUCKING FLICK DUDE! BANG AND THEN HE WAS ALL LIKE OOOOHHHHHH AND THE TROLLS LIKE ARGHHHHH AND THEN HE'S LIKE "SKYHAAASIAETHHHHHHH" OR SOMETHING FUCKIN WEIRD AND THEN THE TROLLS LIKE HYUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHH AND THEN JUST FUCKING RIPPED HIS HEART OUT LIKE SOME TYPE OF HORROR SHOW THOSE MUGGLES HAVE AND THEN IT KIND OF WOKE UP AND HUUUUHHHHH? AND THEN IT WAS ALL BAM CRASH! AND THEN YOU GUYS ALL CAME IN LIKE BOOM! AND MCGONAGALL'S LIKE 'FIFTY POINTS EACH' EVEN THOUGH WE DIDN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING- NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING OF COURSE PROFESSOR- AND THEN WHAM! IT'S JUST LIKE SPLASH! DEAD! AND WOAHHHH" Ron fell backwards into his seat out of breath and Dumbledore just stared at his student with confusion.
Hermione:
"Yes, but who-"
Draco:
"actually killed-"
Ron:
"the troll?" Dumbledore asked, starting to become annoyed.
Hermione, Ron, and Draco:
"Harry did it!"
Harry:
Harry looked nervously at his teachers and swallowed hard. Dumbledore smiled kindly and Snape sneered from behind the headmaster.
"Now, Harry, it is important that you know first of all that I am not angry with you." Dumbledore said, not unkindly "You will not get in trouble for what you did, that I can promise you. I just want to know what happened."
Harry hesitated and kept his eyes on his shoelaces, his yellow laces and yellow vest reminding him of who he was. Harry looked down and smiled a little.
"There was a troll." Harry said vaguely, playing with the black ring on his middle finger.
"We are aware of that part" Snape said, bitterly.
Harry looked up through his bangs and smirked, amused.
"Please try to be specific my boy." Dumbledore said softly.
Harry shifted his eyes to Dumbledore and, against his better judgement let his guard down.
"I killed it" Harry said simply.
Dumbledore was surprised by the boy's matter of fact tone, and even more surprised to know that Harry was telling the truth, at least until Harry turned his eyes towards Snape and their connection was broken.
"I used magic and I controlled the troll. I made it rip out it's own heart and then I let it watch the heart beat in it's hand one last time before killing it." Harry said, staring darkly at Snape.
Snape's eyes widened in a mixture of shock and horror, as Lilly'-no, Harry's eyes turned dark and cold and without any hint of remorse. In a second the boy's eyes were back to normal though and Harry was shrugging and leaning back in his chair.
"Don't know how I did it though," he said locking eyes with Dumbledore "I can't remember. Hermione told me that I killed it, so I must have."
Harry spoke as if he couldn't care about what he had done, nor as if he had regretted it. This terrified Dumbledore. Harry smiled and leaned forward, staring at his headmaster in a way that sent shivers down the old man's back.
"Of course," Harry said in a sickly sweet tone "I wouldn't have had to kill the beast at all if you were better at your job, Headmaster. "
"What do you mean?" Dumbledore asked, trying to hide the tremble in his voice.
"Perhaps, Headmaster, next time there is a threat to your students you think about the safety of your students before recklessly running after the threat. Why would you send seventeen year olds to bring children across the Hogwarts grounds when there is a fully grown mountain troll walking the halls? Why not keep the students in the great hall where it is safer? Why would you send every single teacher after the beast and not have some remain in case it targets us?" with every question Harry asked he leaned in closer to the headmaster "How would such a beast get in to Hogwarts in the first place? And sure you send the students who were actually in the great hall to their houses, but what about the students serving detention? Or in the library? Or walking around the halls? Or bathrooms? What about the students in the hospital wing? What about the students outside on the lawn? Or the other teachers who weren't in the great hall at all!"
Harry stood up and for an eleven year old looked much larger and stronger than any of the adults there.
"Seven teachers in the great hall. Seven. And not one called the police. Not one called an ambulance. Not one triggered a signal alerting the students and staff about the dangers. Not one teacher counted the students, nor took attendance. I have been in fire drills, Headmaster I know what teachers are supposed to do. No students had a plan of where to go, nor who to go to or the fastest way out. Every year in muggle school the first day the first thing we learned was what to do in case of an emergency. I have been here for almost three months and haven't heard one single suggestion of what to do. So I ask you professor; what would have happened to Hermione and Draco if I hadn't killed that disgusting creature? What would have happened if Ron and I remained in the classroom we were hiding in beforehand?"
Harry leaned heavily on the desk as all three faculty members stared in shock at the gall of the little boy.
"You want to know what happened, Headmaster? Seven teachers were more concerned with seeing a troll, then actually keeping their students safe." Harry turned and began to walk towards the door before he stopped and looked over his shoulder with a smile that said he wasn't just harassing his teacher.
"Oh, nice move with the sending students to their houses by the way. "Troll in the dungeons" huh?" Harry said with a laugh "good to know you were willing to send all the slytherins whose house is in the dungeons to their death"
Harry walked out laughing, leaving behind three shocked adults. Finally after several minutes Mcgonagall looked away from the closed door she had been staring at and turned to look at the pale headmaster.
"You're right," she said her voice breaking "Harry Potter is nothing like his parents."
