20. Sorry Him*

"Why are you asking this now?"

Before I could say anything he continued to ask his questions.

"Have you done something?"

I shook my head.

"Did you get yourself in trouble? Or wait... are planning something against Derek or Allison and that's why you're asking this? Because if this is about it then I'm in." I was kinda astonished to hear this from Max.

"I've many things to worry about than to plot some revenge against them Max." My phone buzzed so I checked the notification bar to see a message from the head volunteer,

Hi, we've one more volunteer to accompany so please adjust because I've put her with you.

This is strange no one usually show up in last minute.

I replied her with a thumbs up.

I turned to see Max seated on a chair so I took the opposite chair to sit. Once I settled down I asked him in a Stern voice,

"The main reason why I called you is to know what really happened that you went behind my back saying people that I manipulated you and you never felt anything about me and you used to make a fool of me and what not."

He looked little taken aback but he easily composed it. Keeping his heads down he said, "It wasn't me who spread that rumor."

Fuck what?

"I wouldn't be surprised if you say it was Allison." She has pretty much ruined everything in my life. This wasn't new.

"It was Derek actually."

Oh.

"Hmm, Allison's lap dog then."

He looked up with an amused look and chuckled. "Indeed."

"So why didn't you tell me that Derek did it rather than sending me all those I love you shits"

"Okay, bitch that was really rude.
And to answer your question,
First, I was in camp without any electronic gadget so by the time I came to know that this kind of blunder has happened it was too late. Second, I used to be high as balloon when I wrote you all those I love you's.
It's not like I'm saying that I didn't mean it of course I did, but my approach was wrong for which I'm ashamed. Third, One month ago when I was in town for the carnivals I came to know from Josh that it was Derek, who spread that rumour, the very next day I came to talk to you but you shooed me away."

To be honest, I was expecting something like, I was jealous, I'm sorry I know I shouldn't have done something so stupid. His reply was a tight slap on my face.

Minute by minute I was feeling suffocated. Probably because of guilt.

Till two fucking years I hated Max for something he didn't do.

"I would never do anything terrible like that to you D. I loved you, even though I knew that you'll always see me as a friend and Scott's brother, I adored you anyway." In a very gentle like manner Max hugged me.

I was too overwhelmed to say anything,

Burying my face in his shoulder I apologised, "I so sorry Max." I was on the verge to cry.

"It's okay, Diana I know why you reacted that way. You felt betrayed and I can understand."

In a very hushed tone I murmured, "Scott lied to me."

In a lighting speed he pulled me out of the hug, "What?"

"Scott lied to me and I don't know why."

"How can you be so sure."

"In 2015 summer where did he went Max?"

Hesitation was evident on his face because both of them kept it as a secret. "Mom and dad were on the business tour when he overdosed cocaine luckily uncle Mark was here so it was easy for us to get him in rehab considering uncle Mark was his godfather, he didn't go to camp I did and Scott was sent to rehab for treatment." His voice wavered at the end.

"Did you ever pay him a visit or your uncle?"

"No Scott didn't want to see us. So we were restricted to meet him."

"Did he have access to his trust funds? Or did he had any source to get hard cash when he was sent to rehab?"

"We both gained access when we turned 18 and I really don't know whether he had any kind of access. I'm not getting this why are you asking all such things?"

"Because he never went rehabilitation Max! That fucker went to see Derek in juvie."
He stared down at me, obviously shocked to learn about his brother's activity.

"How-" before he could ask or say he was interrupted, "Hey Max!"

I looked at my right to see Issac standing there with a million dollar smile, and just behind him Scott with a calculating gaze.

Issac shook hands with Max and gave him a one sided hug. "Hey man, it's been a while since I have seen you."

"I'm cool, how about you?"

"Meh, just breathing." Both of them laughed well Max merely snickered. Isaac turned his gaze to me, "Hello Miss Forbes." He mocks saluted me. Sticking an unpleasant smile on my face I said, "Hi Issac didn't expect to see you here."

Chuckling, he replied, "Uhg yeah, actually coach practically forced me to come, because he needed free helping hands."

"Oh,okay."

"Diana, let's go near the bus we've to board it Within 15 minutes-"

"Oh hey dude did coach forced you too to come here at this early morning?." Issac again interrupted this time.

Annoyed Scott turned to see who's the new person joining us and so did I.

"Naah, I'm here on my own will to volunteer with Diana. And Scott as well."

"You've got to be kidding me." If I wasn't standing near to Scott I wouldn't have heard it.

"Okay, now I feel relief that you won't be alone with my brother D." Max blurted too loudly.

And I on the other hand was trying to wrap my mind around the current situation.

I don't know whether I should be mad or solace.

My mouth opened and closed like a fish. Because he was the last person I expected to be here.

I checked my phone again because I was pretty sure that the leader had written Her, which obviously means a girl.

"Sorry Him*"

I looked up and our eyes met.

"Blake."
