19.

We are all settled here in the master’s bedroom. The bed is big enough to accommodate the four of us maybe it can still fit another 2-3 more persons in it. Raphael is at the other end; beside him is Lawrence then Sophie then me. But currently I’m still seated because I am checking Sophie’s vitals.

We have both changes into dry pajamas for Sophie and tank top and shorts for me. I asked Sophie’s nanny to change her into a pajama with long sleeves because her body, I guess, was really shocked from the cold shower that’s why she was shivering a while ago.

“Baby how are you feeling?” I asked her, after putting my things away before hopping in the bed.

First, I have checked her temperature, which is a bit low maybe because of the shower. Second was her breathing, which is a little bit long. Third was her heartbeat, which is a little fast. And third were her eyes, behind her eyelids the color is pale, and I also noticed that her skin became a little pale compared this morning.

“I’m okay Mommy, just cold.” She said. Her little game of catching the air didn’t escaped my observant eyes that made me look up to Raphael, who is already looking at us.

“You sure you don’t feel anything more? Tell me the truth Baby so Mommy know what to do, hmmm?”

“Umm. A l-little out of b-breath Mommy, but I’m fine.” She said stuttering and a little fast. She looks afraid that I’ll get mad but there’s no reason to get mad so why does she look afraid?

“Okay. Tell me when did it start.”

“After playing with Granny…” she said in a small voice. Now, I know why she looks scared. She’s scared that I won’t let them go visit my Mom again.

“I think you had too much fun Baby. Come on time for bed.” I told her kissing her forehead and positioning her in my arms.

She immediately snuggled closer to my chest and wrapped her arms around my body tightly. “Good night baby…” I whispered before placing a kiss on top of his head. I think she’s too tired to say her goodnight to her father and brother, which they didn’t mind.

“Rence, sweetie, how about you? Aren’t you tired yet?” I asked Rence, who again have his iPad on hand. He raised his head and looked at me giving a slight nod before closing his iPad, which Raphael took and placed it on his bedside table.

“Is Sophie okay now Auntie?” he asked after getting a comfortable position on the bed, which is facing me.

“Yes, sweetie. Her body was just shocked from the intense physical activity you both had this afternoon. How about you Rence are you feeling okay, sweetie?”

“I’m fine Auntie, just tired nothing unusual. Thank you Auntie, good night. Good night dad.” he gave me a kiss on my cheek then gave Sophie on his head then his dad before finally closing his eyes.

There was a moment of silence after the kids have fallen asleep, leaving only Raphael and I wide awake. I can still see the exact scenes at the back of my head, which pinch my heart every time I pay attention to it.

He is being silent the whole time since we arrived. I don’t know what happened to him, but I think I should be the one acting like that because I was the one who is hurt, who felt betrayed because of the thing he let to happen.

I was ready to break the silence because our eyes have been communicating for quite some time and my mouth can’t hold my words of worries and curiosity of why his eyes are like that but then I felt something at my chest area, which caused me to break our eye talk.
