With a shivering sigh, Tom tightened the tie around his neck as he fixed his suit while looking in the body length mirror. Today was the day that he was forced to put his feelings aside and focus on what was important, your happiness.

A knock on the door sounded and he looked up. Harrison entered. "Hey, man," He said softly.

"Hey," Tom said.

"How are you?" He asked.

Tom shrugged. "How do you think?" He scoffed.

Harrison patted his best friend's back. "It's great that you're here, Tom. My little sis will appreciate it," He said.

Tom nodded. "You have no clue how badly I wanted to cancel this morning but I just can't do that to her, Haz. She's my best friend."

"I know, man. Let's get going. We don't want to be late," Harrison said.

At the sound of the organ starting to play, every guest rose to their feet, including Tom. He straightened his back and exhaled deeply. Harrison patted his back and Tom offered him a small smile.

As you passed around the corner, Tom's breath hitched in his throat. You looked absolutely stunning in the long white gown that hugged your body beautifully in just the right places. It flowed to the floor as the veil danced behind you. Your hair and makeup were flawless and the smile on your face beamed like the sun.

But that smile wasn't for Tom. It was for Brandon, your fiancé and soon-to-be husband. He stood at the end of the aisle as he took in your appearance. You didn't take your eyes off of him as you approached him with your father by your side.

As you reached him, Tom saw him whisper, "You look beautiful," and his heart ached. He wished more than anything in this world that he was the one who stood there, minutes away from being able to call you his wife.

Sadly, he wasn't. That opportunity had passed him a long time ago.

You and Tom had grown up together as your parents had been close friends. He had been your best friend all your life. Only Tom didn't feel the same. A few months ago, he had returned from filming his newest movie and he had built up the courage to tell you how he really felt. He loved you more than anything and he wanted you to be his.

However, in the time that Tom had been gone, Brandon had proposed to you and you had built up the courage too to tell your best friend about your engagement.

Tom and Brandon had never been friends. Sure, they had been civil with each other, but that was all for your sake. Brandon knew about Tom's feelings for you. Not because he had ever told him, but because he could see it. Anyone could for that matter. The only person who didn't were you.

And here he was at your wedding. You were getting married to the guy Tom despised the most. He knew things about Brandon that you didn't. A couple of weeks ago, at a party one of Brandon's friends had thrown, he had slept with another woman after drinking too much. Tom didn't have the heart to tell you because he knew how much you loved Brandon.

The voice of the officiant snapped Tom out of his thoughts. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the wedding of Y/N and Brandon. You have come here to share in this formal commitment they make to one another, to offer your love and support to this union, and to allow Y/N and Brandon to start their married life together surrounded by the people dearest and most important to them." You looked into the crowd and your eyes locked with Tom's. He sent you a smile and you mimicked it before lovingly turning to Brandon.

Tom averted his eyes to the floor to keep himself at bay. The officiant continued talking, but Tom didn't pay attention.

"Y/N and Brandon, you may exchange your vows now," The officiant said.

You blew out a breath. "Brandon. You are the light of my life. You make me so happy every day and I couldn't imagine a better person to share my life with. You accept me for who I am and I can trust you with every fibre of my body." Tom felt his throat tighten and he pressed his fingernails into the palms of his hand. "Those who know me, know that my friends are everything to me and you had no problem welcoming them into your life." You turned to Tom. "Even my best friend, who you don't particularly like, you get along with." Tom blinked profusely to fight back the tears that pricked his eyes but he just couldn't keep them back anymore.

He turned away and pushed past your relatives that had sat beside him. He rushed out of the hall and slammed the door shut behind him. He fled the building and found himself a wooden bench just outside the chapel. He sat down and folded his hands over his mouth to muffle his rapid breathing.

"Tom!" He heard your voice call and he turned around, seeing you hurry out of the chapel.

"Y/N, what are you doing here? It's your wedding," Tom said, wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his jacket.

"I can ask you the same thing? What the hell happened?" You asked, standing next to him.

He sighed, averting his eyes to the ground. You sat down beside him, placing a comforting hand on his arm. "What's wrong, Tom?" You asked, your voice softening.

He chuckled humorlessly, avoiding to look at you. "I can't do it anymore, Y/N."

"Do what?" You questioned.

"He's not the one for you, Y/N. He's never been the one," Tom stated.

"What are you talking about?"

"He's cheated on you. I didn't tell you because I just couldn't see you get hurt. I know how much you love him but I can't keep watching him take advantage of you. Especially because..." Tom cut himself off before he could say anything he didn't want to.

"Because what?" You asked, an uneasy feeling settling in your stomach.

"Y/N!" A loud voice barked and both you and Tom shot up. Brandon hurried toward the two of you. "What the hell are you doing? We were in the middle of our ceremony!" He exclaimed.

"Did you cheat on me?" You asked him without skipping a beat.

Brandon's eyebrows arched into a frown as his eyes fell on Tom, who stood behind you. "You told her?!" He barked as he took a step toward the actor.

You blocked Tom from his view. "Answer me, Brandon!" You repeated angrily.

He sighed, averting his eyes to the floor. "I think that no matter what I say, you won't believe me."

"So it's true," You said softly, your eyes welling up with tears.

"Y/N..." Brandon started to say, reaching out for your hand but you harshly ripped it away from him, taking a step back.

"Don't touch me! I never want to see you again," You said, your voice trembling with anger and hurt.

"Y/N, come on," Brandon tried, but Tom cut him off.

"She said leave, Brandon," He snarled, stepping in between you and Brandon.

Brandon scoffed. "I should've known." He shook his head and walked away.

You clasped a hand over your mouth to mute the choking sobs that were leaving your body. "Tom, I'm so sorry," You cried.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. Y/N, look at me," He said softly, taking your face in his hands. "It's okay. You're here now, that's all that matters." He nodded assuringly.

You smiled. "You never got to finish your sentence," You said quietly, taking one of his hands in yours.

He smiled. "I love you, Y/N. So freaking much," He said.

You ran a hand through his curls and he chuckled. "I love you too, Tom." You shook your head. "I'm so stupid."

Tom frowned. "Why's that?"

"I've been looking all my life for someone who's right for me, never once realising that I already had the perfect guy right by my side." You leaned in and connected your lips with his. "That's you, Tom."
