Part 2/2

Today's a day like any other.

But I'm changed, I am a mother, oh, in an instant.

"And then he threw me out," you said quietly, wrapping your icy fingers around the cup of tea Tom had brought you. He sat next to you as he listened, comfortingly rubbing his hand up and down your back.

"I'm so sorry, Y/N," he said.

You pushed a drenched strand of hair out of your face. "I can't stop thinking about what could've happened if-"

"Hey, don't do that to yourself. You're safe now, both of you," he cut you off. You dropped a hand to your baby bump.

And who I was has disappeared.

"What if he comes back?" you asked, terrified tears pooling your eyes as your voice trembled.

"I'd like to see him try," Tom said as he took your hand in his.

It doesn't matter, now you're here.

So innocent.

The sound of your baby's heartbeat filling the room brought tears to your eyes and you tightly squeezed Tom's hand. Your doctor pointed at the monitor. "Do you see their face, Y/N?" she asked you. You nodded vigorously as your hand covered your mouth.

"Do you want to know the gender?" she then asked. You looked up at Tom.

"Your choice," he said. You turned back to the doctor.

"Yeah, I'd love to," you said with a shaky voice. The doctor moved the probe to see your baby more clearly.

"Congratulations, you're having a little girl," she said with a bright smile. Tears began streaming down your face. Happy tears, though. The doctor wiped the gel off your stomach and Tom didn't hesitate to wrap you in a tight hug.

I was lost for you to find

And now I'm yours and you are mine.

"Tom?" you spoke up, putting down the bowl of popcorn you had been holding.

"Hm?" he replied sleepily from his spot on the other side the couch.

"Did you doze off?" Amusement laced your words. "You were the one who wanted to watch this movie."

"Yeah, sorry." He ran a hand down his face and sat up straighter. "What's up?"

"Can we go shopping for baby stuff soon? I know we already got a lot from the baby shower but we don't have everything yet," you questioned.

"Sure. We can go to the store later this week. Harrison and I are painting the nursery tomorrow," he replied.

You smiled softly. "Thank you."

Two tiny hands, a pair of eyes.

An unsung melody is mine for safekeeping

With rain splattering against the window, your eyes were fixated on the ultrasound picture in your hand. A soft blanket was draped over your body as your daughter moved around inside of you. You softly hummed a lullaby as your free hand rubbed up and down your stomach.

You heard a soft knock and you looked up, seeing Tom leaning against the doorframe, watching you with a smile. "What?" you asked, feeling a blush creep up your neck.

"Nothing. I like seeing you like this," he said.

"Like what?"

"Happy. Like you don't have a care in the world but her."
