So.... I know it's taken me forever to update. I apologize for that.... Life kind of got in the way. Oddly enough, after a two year break it was pretty easy to get back to writing in the mindset of Braxton and Kansas.

I hope you enjoy this chapter!!!!

The next morning comes way too early. I'm slightly hungover and my arm still hurts. Today is gonna suck! I quickly get ready so I can stop at the office before going to court at 9:00 A.M. I hurry through the lobby and flag down a cab to take to work. I really need to get a car today. Maybe I'll rent one after I'm done in court.

I arrive at the office a little after 7 o'clock. I step off the elevator and I spot Danielle sitting at her desk. She looks up and smiles, "Good Morning Mr. Cooper."

"Morning, Danielle. Any messages for me?"

"No, sir. How is your arm?"

"It's okay. Typing is a little harder to do, but hopefully the cast won't be on too long."

"I'm just glad that you're okay Mr. Cooper."

"Thank you, Danielle."

"Your wife seems really nice and she's pretty too," she says candidly.

I see two men walking down the hall towards me. This doesn't look good. "Uh, yeah. She's great," I say distractedly as I start backing up into my office.

"Is everything okay, sir?"

I head into my office, closing the door behind me. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea coming into the office this morning. My office phone beeps. "Yes, Danielle?"

"Mr. Cooper. There are two gentlemen here that want to speak with you."

"Sure, send them in." I hang up the phone. Fuck!

The door opens and two men in suits walk in. I stand up to greet them. "Hello, gentlemen. Come in, sit down," I say pointing to the chairs in front of my desk. "I don't have a lot of time; I have to be in court at 9:00 a.m."

"This shouldn't take long," one of the men says as he reaches out to shake my hand. I shake both of their hands before we all sit down. "I have to admit that I'm a little confused. I don't know what this is all about?"

"Mr. Cooper, I'm Daniel Harris and this is Jeremy Ford. We're with Kirkland and Ellis Law firm."

"Um, okay," I say nervously. Kirkland and Ellis is one of the most prestigious law firms in Chicago and they're here in MY office. "How can I help you?"

"We've had our eye on you for a while. Your real cutthroat in the court room and we think you would do great at our law firm."

"Are you being serious? I mean... Every lawyer dreams of working at Kirkland and Ellis and here you are, in my office asking me to come and work for you."
