Fake Love

Part 27

Briar POV

I place my beach towel on the sand and lay down on top of it. Everyone else is out in the water swimming around and having fun. A part of me wants to get in and play with them, but then I tell myself how bad a swimmer I am and that I should stick to lying on the sand instead.

"Briar, what are you doing lying on the sand while everyone else is out swimming?" A familiar voice asks from behind me.

I spin around, "Tate, I didn't know you were going to be here! I squeal with excitement.

"I got invites at the last minute." She explains with a shrug. "I'm just glad I'm not the only one who prefers bathing over swimming."

Tate places her towel besides mine and lays on top of it. She sighs before looking over at me.

"So how is the plan going?" She asks me.

"So far so good." I tell her. "Not that Logan seems all that jealous."

"Humph. You can never tell with that girl." Tate says. "She acts all sweet and then turns on you at the last minute. She's a player, its hard to tell if she actually cares about her ex's or not."

"Sounds like you've known her for a while then." I assume.

"3 years." She nods. "She's always been a player. I was so upset when I found out she was dating Myles, I knew it wouldn't end well for him. And I was right."

"It seems like he still hasn't gotten over her, and its been a year." I assume once again.

"He hasn't had a girlfriend since they broke up." Tate sighs. "He stayed in his room for weeks after it happened. To this day, none of us know what happened when they broke up but I'm guessing it was bad. And now that Logan is back and he's trying to make her jealous, it just proves that he still has feelings for her."

"Oh." I say with a long sigh.

"I don't think his heartache will last much longer with you being here." She mutters.

"What do you mean?" I ask her.

"I mean, I think that he'll fall for you." She tells me, smugly. "And seeing as you're already in love with him ... "

She thinks we're going to fall in love. Could she be right?
