Myles POV
Everything hurts. My head in particular. I have no idea what happened. But I can tell by the look on Briar's face that it was something terrible.
"What happened?" I ask her.
"You were in a car accident." She explains. "There were three cars involved. You had a traumatic brain injury and you went into a coma after you had surgery. You've been out for two days."
"Oh." I say, taking it all in. "I kind of remember it; or at least part of it."
"You do?" She asks, kind of surprised.
"Yeah." I nod. "I remember us fighting and then breaking up, then I was driving and a car was swerving into another car in front of me and I couldn't stop. That's all I remember."
"I'm so sorry, Myles." Briar apologises. "This never would've happened if it weren't for me."
"Shhh. I don't want to hear you say that ever again." I tell her.
Interrupting our conversation, a nurse walks in and a look of relief comes across her face.
"Gosh, you're awake." She sighs. "This is a miracle. I'll go get a doctor."
She walks out and I can't help but think that this accident was worse than Briar made it sound.
"They didn't think I was going to wake up, did they?" I ask Briar.
She shakes her head. "No, they didn't."
"What happened to the other two people in the accident?" I ask.
"One of them died at the scene and the other ... " Her voice drops off and she starts crying.
"B, whats wrong?" I ask her.
"My dad was in the other car." She tells me. "He had surgery and was also put into a coma."
"But he's going to make it, right?" I say, hopefully.
"He's brain dead." She tells me. "The machines are keeping him alive; for now."
"Oh Bri." I sigh putting my hand on hers. "I'm so sorry."
She smiles, weakly. "Me too."
