Briar POV
After class I sneak out and follow Myles and Dylan to the parking lot. They're talking so quietly I can't hear a thing that they're saying. I move in closer, staying hidden.
"Thank you so much, Mylo." Dylan says. "I don't know what I'd have done without you."
MYLO?! That's my nickname for him.
"Anytime." Myles tells her. "I'm here for you Dylan."
She leans in and kisses him on the lips. What the actual hell is she doing? What is he doing? Why isn't he pulling away? I can't take this anymore. I turn on my heel and start walking home. How could he do this to me?
I am halfway home when a car pulls up behind me and toots slightly. I glance over to see who it is and its none other than Myles himself. I don't want to talk to him right now ... but this could be a chance to let him be honest with me.
"Hey lil b." He says out the window. "You wanna ride?"
I think about it for a moment before answering, "Sure." and jump in the passengers side.
"So did anything out of the ordinary happen to you today?" I ask him, awkwardly.
"Nope, nothing." He shakes his head.
I decide to give him another chance to be honest, "So I was wondering why were you sitting with Dylan in class today?" I ask him.
"I was just checking up on her, since you said she was having a rough day." He explains.
"Is that why you were with her in the parking lot after school too?" I ask him getting impatient with his lies.
"Yeah, it was actually." He says, starting to sound anxious. "How did you know about that?"
"That's irrelevant." I brush off his question. "The real question here is, why the hell were you kissing her?"
"Technically she kissed me." He points out.
"But you didn't pull away either." I snap. "How could you do this to me?"
"I'm so sorry B." He starts apologising. "It wasn't meant to be like this, it just happened. One minute we were talking and then she just kissed me and with everything that she's going through I didn't want to upset her."
We pull into my driveway. "Whatever." I mutter and get out of the car.
"Bri, don't do this." He says. "We can sort this out now, just please don't walk away."
"Before my mum died she told me ... " I gulp. "She told me that if another girl ever steals your man, there's no better revenge than letting her keep him because real men can't be stolen."
"Briar ... she didn't steal me." He says in a hushed tone. "I'm yours, always."
"She hasn't stolen you ... yet." I shake my head. "But she might."
"It was a mistake." Myles tells me, surely. "I don't know how much you saw, but after a few seconds we both pulled away she said that she was sorry and that it never should've happened. She's been through hell lately and was confused and hurting."
"I know." I mutter.
"I'm so sorry Bri." He reaches for my hand. "I'll do anything to fix this. I'll do anything for your forgiveness."
I don't blame Dylan. I blame Myles. It might take some time but I can forgive him though he should know that I will never forget this.
