Part 34

Briar POV

Today is the first day back at school since summer break. I can't wait to catch up with Vic and Lamar I hadn't seen them once in the last two weeks. Plus, I heard there is two new girls coming to school. I'd like to meet them.

I walk downstairs that morning, for breakfast. Its just Myles and Franci sitting at the table. That's just what I wanted ... not.

I take my seat and serve myself some pancakes. My favourite. I look down, trying not to make eye contact with anyone, particularly Myles.

"So what'd you two get up to last night when we were out?" Franci asks Myles and I.

You've got to be kidding me? I think she knows. Myles better not have told her or anyone else ... my dad can't find out about this.

"We just hung out." I lie. "Alone, in our own bedrooms."

Franci leans towards me and whispers, "I know that's not true, I forgot my phone so I came back inside to get it and I heard it."

My face burns bright red and so does Myles'. This is humiliating. She heard us doing it. Eww.

"I'm so sorry, Franci." I apologise for some reason.

"Don't be." She shrugs. "You're two sixteen year olds who are in love with one another. There's nothing wrong with doing that."

"Actually mum, we're not together anymore." Myles corrects her.

"Since when." She asks, upset. Maybe we should've told her that our relationship was fake to begin with.

"Since last night." He says. "After we had ... you know."

"What'd he do?" Franci turns to me.

"Nothing, we just had a fight and ... well he regretted doing it with me and I was hurt by that so we broke up." It all spills out.

Franci glances over to Myles who looks down, guiltily. This is awkward. I probably shouldn't have overshared my feeling like that, especially to Franci.

"Myles." Franci says. "What do you have to say for yourself?"

"I'm going to school." Myles stands up. "Do you still want a ride? It'd be a good time to try sort things out."

"Okay." I nod.

I stand up and walk outside with Myles and get in his car. This should be a good talk, not.
