Myles' POV

I sit next to Briar's bed in the hospital. Her father, Alan, has gone to get some food for us both. My parents, Kingsley, Logan and Devon have all gone home.

Briar's going to be okay, and its just a matter of time before she wakes up. Hopefully then she'll be able to tell us all what happened. Or if Logan pushed her; which is what I think happened.

I glance over at Briar lying in the old hospital bed. She looks so fragile. She doesn't deserve this, any of it. If Logan really did push her then she has it coming for her. I regret going out with Logan. But even more so, I regret hurting Briar that day in the cafeteria; I've been such a jerk to her.

"Bri, I don't know if you can hear me but ... " I start talking. "I'm so sorry."

"Sorry for what?" Briar's eyes flutter open, her voice sounding sleepy.

"You're awake." I say in relief.

"Yep, now continue apologising." She demands, smugly. "I have never ever heard this sort of thing come out of your mouth before."

"I'm sorry for embarrassing you in front of the entire school that day in the cafeteria. I'm sorry for being mean and cold to you ever since. I'm sorry for walking in on you getting changed. I'm sorry for making you be my fake girlfriend; if I hadn't asked you to then you wouldn't be lying here today." I apologise to her.

"Its okay, Myles." She tells me. "I forgive you."

I smile in return.

"But what do you mean when you said if you hadn't asked me to be your fake girlfriend I wouldn't be lying here today?" Briar asks confused.

"I think she did this to you." I explain. "But I could be wrong."

"Oh so she's the one who pushed me down the stairs." Briar says in realisation. "Was she really that jealous of me?"

"Must've been." I shrug. "I'm going to get her back for this."

"How do you mean?" Briar asks, a concerned look coming across her face.

"She can't get away with hurting you, B." I tell her.

"Look, its sweet that you care about me all of a sudden ... " Briar places her hand on top of mine. "But hurting her isn't going to help."

"Bri, I didn't mean I was going to punch her or anything like that. I would never do that to a girl." I roll my eyes. "I'll just talk to her about it."

"Good." She sighs.
