Chapter Five

Two Months Later
Sophie's POV

Since school has started, things have been pretty normal. Grayson and Ella are still together, which blows all of our minds. But he actually seems happy to be with her. Ethan spends more time at my house because he doesn't want to be around his brother and his girlfriend.
"Are we that annoying?" He asked his mom one day. Lisa really doesn't like Ella. "Just something about her" she always says. I personally think that they are more of a show couple. Every time we see them together, they are almost always making out.
Today Ethan and I were walking through the halls, holding hands, and we stopped to see Grayson and Ella standing beside doors. "We're thinking about ditching-" she said. I was speechless. Grayson is definitely more of the jock type, but he never skips class. His education means a lot to him.

Ethan's POV
"Dude, you can't be serious about this" I told my brother. Sophie squeezed my hand a little. I looked down to her looking up at me. "Well we're gonna go to class now. Have fun skipping." I said, a little too loud. Grayson's eyes got huge. I turned around to see the meanest and strictest teacher standing right behind us. "We're. Screwed."
Thirty minutes later, we were sitting in the principal's office. All of us. Me, Sophie, Grayson, Ella and my mom. "Well are you gonna explain yourself Grayson?" I heard my mother say. I was so scared. Grayson said nothing. As much as I hated what I was about to say, I had to stand up for my brother. His intentions were wrong, but I still love him.
"He wasn't actually gonna skip" I said, breaking the tension of silence. "You see, Ella here, had started her period. And Grayson being the great, uh- boyfriend he is, decided that he was gonna go get her some tampons from the store. I said that they were skipping as a joke". My mother's jaw dropped. Grayson and Ella looked up.
"Well at least you had good intentions, but next time, I'm sure they have that type of stuff in the nurse's office sweetie" my mom said. The principal nodded.
As we walked silently back to our classes, there was no sound except for our footsteps echoing through the halls. "Thanks a lot dude. You really saved me" I heard my brother say. "No problem" is all I could manage to get out of my mouth. He was so gonna get it when we got home. I was so mad at him. I had to tell my mom about what really happened.

*the end of the school day*
Sophie's POV

Today was really weird. As Ethan drove us home, we jammed out singing to Panic! At the Disco (if you don't listen to them, I highly recommend that you do). We sang terribly off key, but I loved little moments like this. It's what I lived for.
We walked in to see Lisa sitting at the table. Like she'd been waiting for us. "What is it mom?" Ethan said. We walked closer to the table and sat down. "Ethan, I want you to tell me what really happened today. Grayson is in his room, but won't tell me anything. I know he's a good boy on the inside, but he's not that good and he knows better." his mom said. He told her everything.
"That's it. I can't take that girl anymore" she said as she stormed off to her bedroom, slamming the door behind her. Ethan and I climbed up the stairs, to see Grayson, there on his bed. I heard him crying faintly. "I'll take care of this. You just go to my room." I walked down the hall and laid across Ethan's bed.
Ethan's POV
I walked with Sophie up the stairs. I heard my brother crying. He never cries, so I knew something was wrong. He was curled in a ball on his bed. "Gray?" I said, walking into his room without invitation. No response. "Grayson, what's wrong dude?" He looked up and his eyes were red.
"I-I- broke up with her. She gone. Ella is no longer a part of my life." He said. I felt terrible. "Is this because of today?" He nodded. "She was too bad of influence on my life. But I really liked her. I thought it would just be better if I broke things off. But I miss her" he said. I had no words. We talked for a while longer. "I just want to have what you and Sophie have. Y'all always look so happy together. I want that kind of happiness." My jaw dropped.
I walked back to my room. Sophie looked up to see me. "You're back" she said. I ran and jumped on my bed. I have her the biggest kiss. "Have I told you how lucky I am to have you lately" I said. I kissed her again.
