Chapter Twenty One

     I hung up the phone and looked at Ethan. His eyes were big and so were mine. "I don't want everyone to know yet..." I said. I could feel my eyes starting to water up. "Shh it's gonna be okay." He said, wiping the tears off of my face with his thumb. "You promise?" I said. He grabbed my hand and kissed my forehead, "I promise." He said.
     I started the car and drove to Lilly's house. Ethan held my hand the whole way there. I walked up to the door and knocked. Almost instantly, she answered. "Hey guys." She said welcoming us in. I walked into her kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water. Then, I walked back into the living room and sat criss cross on the couch. "Feel free to help yourself to anything you find." She said with a giggle. I laughed too and Ethan sat beside me. "I feel bad for not telling you sooner Lilly. But, I just found out three days ago." I said. My voice became shaky. Lilly reached across her coffee table and put a hand on my arm. "Hey, I'm not mad at you. I'll be here for you every step of the way. Because that's what best friends are for.
    "It's gonna be okay." She told me. I sat there crying for a few seconds before I looked up at her. "You really don't get it, do you?" I said with tears still falling down my face. "What do you mean?" She asked. "Lilly! I'm pregnant! With twins! And I'm only seventeen!" I paused. "And by the time we go back to school, every damn person will know!" I was breaking down. Then I felt the safety of Ethan's arms wrap around me. I cried myself to sleep, right there on Lilly's couch.

Ethan's POV

     This was really hitting her hard. I feel so bad that I'm the one responsible for it too. She doesn't deserve any of this. All of this stress, it was just eating her alive. I looked down at her after her breathing had steadied. She had cried so much, that she was now asleep. I felt a tear roll down my face. "Ethan?" I heard Lilly ask. I looked up at her. "What's wrong?" "It's just that I'm responsible for all of this. I'm the one that's put her in this situation. All, she's done is cry for the past three days. And it's my damn fault. I never wanted to hurt her." I said with tears rolling down my face.
    "Well you know what? We're gonna beat the asses of anyone who makes her feel any worse." Lilly said sounding a little pissy. I nodded as I felt Sophie start to squirm in my lap. She was starting to wake up. I held her up and kissed her head. "You've been crying?" She said. Then, I told her everything. "Aww baby. I've never been happier. It'll get better as time goes on. But a lot is just hitting me right now." She said making me smile. We stayed and talked at Lilly's for a while longer. When we left, it was dark outside.
    As we were driving back to Sophie's house, I got a text from my mom reminding us that we were going out for dinner tonight with everyone. "Shit! I forgot about this." I said. "What?" Sophie asked. "We're having another dinner tonight." I said. Sophie rolled her eyes and turned the car around. She pulled the car into a spot next to Jackson's car. Then, she got out of the car and gave him a big hug.

Sophie's POV

     I got out of the car and gave my brother a hug. It made me feel instantly better. Even though Ethan gives great hugs, sometimes I need one from my brother. He held me close. I'm so glad that he's home, because god I hate it so much when he's not.
    We walked into the restaurant and sat down. "We have good news." I said holding Ethan's hand. "What is it sweetie?" My mom asked. "We went to the doctor today..." Ethan started. "And we're having twins!" I said. "Oh that's amazing!" Lisa said. We all smiled.
     Then Jackson cleared his throat. He looked like he had something that he needed something to say. Suddenly all of the laughter dropped and all attention was on him. "I have some news too..." I already knew what it was going to be. But I just didn't want to except it. "I'm being deployed." "In three weeks." He said. My heart sank...
