Identification

"...Hello?"  A young woman said through the phone.  "Who is this?" I said with a tired voice.  "My name is Sarah, I'm a nurse at JMH we have a young girl here, you were the top contact in her cellphone. Would you be able to come to the hospital to help identify her?"  The nurse on the phone immediately caught my attention.  "That might be my girlfriend, I'm coming right now." I ended the call and stormed off of the bus. I called a cab to the hospital and paid the driver.

I ran into reception and they told me where to go. Yup that was her. I saw her laying lifeless on a hospital bed with tubes going in her nose and throat. She had bruises all over her arms and cuts also.  You could see a patch of hair missing, probably the one mike found.  She looked hurt.  The doctor then came in and explained her injuries. 1 broken rib,  multiple bruises, fractured arm, the list was long.  He then asked me what happened to her.  "I have no idea..I went and got pizza and when I came back she was gone..." I started to cry.  I couldn't help it. My baby was hurt.  "She'll be okay, it'll take some time. You're a lucky man Mr.Perry." the doctor said before leaving the hospital room.

I held her hand in mine. Mike texted me and asked if I was alright, I told him I was at the hospital with Mariah. I haven't really spoken to Vic or Jaime. I was so pissed at them. All they had to do was check on her every now and then. I got so mad thinking about what they've done. They let my princess get hurt and I wasn't there to protect her.

This was my fault. I should have been there to protect her from whatever it was that happened.  The nurse walked in and informed me that I have to be really gentle with her because she might wake up soon and will be in pain.  She explained to me all medications she'll have to take as well. 

"Do you know if she's been cutting herself?" The nurse asked holding her clipboard and a pen.  "N-no why?" I asked the nurse.  "She has some cuts on her legs that appear to be self inflicted.  We might give more medication for that separate."  The nurse proceeded to scribble something on her clipboard and show me what she was talking about.  "Make sure you keep an eye on her and her mow much medicine she takes." The nurse continued to explain to me different options we could take to help her with this... 

The nurse left fifteen minutes ago.  I was right by her side.  She started to stir and grunt a bit but was still asleep.  Five minutes later that's all she was doing.  I hit the call button and the nurse cane in while she was starting to I assume wake up.  "This is great! She's starting to wake up...let's see if we can wake her up."  The nurse shook her a bit more while Mariah was moving in her sleep.  Mariah was so close, and then she opened her eyes.

They were blood red.  She winced at the pain shooting through her body.  She then rubbed her hand on her head and winced hard.  "Mariah do you know where you are?" The nurse asked her while checking her pulse.  It took her a few seconds to recognize the environment she was in and where she was at. 

"I-I'm at the hospital..." she sounded exhausted and in pain.  All because fucking Vic and Jaime couldn't keep an eye on her.  "I'll leave you two alone for some privacy..." The nurse smiled and walked out.  That's when I broke down again "I'm so sorry you're here..." I started but couldn't get the words out.  "You didn't do anything wrong Tone. Don't beat yourself up over my own problem."  I held her hand in mine.  "Yes I did.  I left you alone in the hands of Vic and Jaime....and look where you're at now." 

She out her head down "Do you remember anything?"  She shook her head no and stopped because she said her head hurt. The doctor said she was going to be in pain.  "I'm so sorry this had to happen."  No matter how many times I apologized, she'd never fully understand how sorry I truly was.  I can't believe I let her down.

About five hours later Mike showed up with fucking Jaime and Vic.  I really didn't want them here, near her for the matter.  "Did you really have to take them too?"  I asked under my breath to Mike.  Vic then cleared his throat letting me know that he heard what I said.  "Oh my sweet little Mariah we missed you so much!" Jaime ran up her practically crushing her in a hug.  Strange behavior.  "Jaime you have to be gentle, seriously what's wrong with you!?" Vic yelled at Jaime while he stood in the doorway.  "Oh fuck yeah, sorry." Jaime backed off. 

"Tony can we talk in the hall...?" Vic asked still leaning against the doorway.  I walked out into the hall and mike followed. He refused to leave us alone for this one.  "What?" I was being a little rude now. My bad.  "Dude look Im sorry about how I talked about Mariah and everything that's happened..." Vic continued
