When Jennie said he should be ready to face the pack of wolves in her life, he never thought he was not ready enough.
She was his strength, yes, but the presence of the woman in front of him seemed to overpower the positivity Jennie can give him.
Being stared down by the woman across the dining table was never a dream of his, nor even he imagined myself to be into. Well, 11-year-old Taehyung thought of this possibility if ever he pursues someone to be his girlfriend soon. Of course, scrutiny of a person's other half, especially by mothers or fathers, is a part of having a relationship. It is important to be liked by someone's family or group. It was a common arc in dramas and films, anyway.
But right now, her stares were enough to shred him into pieces. Actually, her eyes are like lasers that will already make a hole on his body the longer she looked. Include the crease in forehead and arm cross, and probably the unspoken curses she retained in her head for the decency. After all, she has the right to judge the man.
He never thought he would see her in this way, in a very serious, resting bitch face manner.
His eyes wandered back to the kitchen counter, where Jennie was helping for the dinner. He was trying to send a telepathic message to join him, but obviously, he is failing. She remained there, even enjoying what she's doing.
"She's not going to save you." His eyes went back to the woman in front of him. It was enough to make him sit straight again and politely put his hands on his lap, surrendering. "You're here in dinner because you have something to say, don't you? Why are you not talking? Are you here to piss me off, then?"
"Don't scare the kid, Bae Joohyun." Thank God, Taehyung mumbled. Song Minho came from the counters, too, now placing plates on the mats in front of every chair. Now, the piercing looks of the woman shifted to his every move. He chuckles. "Are you Jennie's mom?"
"And are you the father? Why are you interrupting me?"
"If you want me to." Mino winks at her. After placing the plate in front of Taehyung, he walks back to Irene, as the girl grunts. He found the girl amusing, as always, and ended up messing her hair. "This scary woman, really."
Taehyung made a mental note to finally watch that Irene Hates Men video on YouTube. It always came out of his suggestions but maybe now is the proper time to probably get something from it.
Grunting, and placing Mino's hand on her shoulder to fix her hair, she faces Taehyung again. Seeing the sight of the two in front of him, he somehow felt a little less scared. "I'm going to repeat what we have all said since you came into my Love's life. You're dead meat if you hurt my Love again." She took a quick glimpse at the man beside her, who raised his eyebrows in response. Hereyes back to Taehyung, "And stop calling her Love. I own that nickname for her. Find something else."
Mino rolled his eyes and pinched Joohyun's cheek. "I told you not to eavesdrop."
"You had a quick nap so no one could stop me." She pinched his wrist, releasing her cheek in the process.
"And you can't call her Jendeukie, too." Jisoo now enters the dining area, holding a tray with glasses and a juice. "That's my nickname for her. You have no right to use that." She stood on the other side of Joohyun, stopping with an arm cross.
"I'm pretty sure you can't call her wifey too because I'm her one and only hubby." Following the eldest was Chaeyoung, holding the plate of chicken and fries.
"And Nini!" Now, Lisa, who just came out of her room, hugging her precious snacks and bringing them to the table. "You can't call her Nini. Nini's only for special people, and the only special people in her life is everyone in front of you."
