Chapter 23 – On Set.
A Few Days Later;
Emily Sanders...
Being here in Georgia is definitely doing me a world of good, much more than I had actually suspected it would. Apart from the continued silent calls – I feel the most relaxed, I have been in the longest time. In all honesty, it was the most relaxed I had been since we had been told that my dad's cancer had returned. Jeffrey had refused; point blank, to leave me alone. Reminding me that he had agreed not to take over, however, that had not included; not ensuring my safety, which is apparently, a non-negotiable issue. I swear; this man knew me far too well – I couldn't argue because he was absolutely right; I hadn't asked him to stop looking out for me. Damn it; he is so tricky.
So, with that being said – here I am, and have been every time my boyfriend has been scheduled to work. There were very few days when he hadn't had to come into work for one thing or another; but the one day that he hadn't had to go into the set; we had stayed in bed, watched movies, made love and ate pizza and ice cream, it was a memory that I will carry with me forever. I have to admit that getting to watch Jeffrey work; I may be a little biased, but he has some crazy charismatic talent. Negan is one delusional, twisted psychopath – and Jeffrey does it so effortlessly, that I am truly in awe of his talent, and if I didn't know him the way I did, I would be slightly alarmed that there was a part of him that was indeed really like Negan, but of course there wasn't – he was just that good at his job.
"Hey Ems," Tom, who plays Jesus, on the show, greets me where I am perched, happily watching the action.
"Hey mate, how are you today?" smiling at him before offering him a cigarette, before lighting my own.
"I am good honey – how about you?" he asked once he had lit his own smoke.
I had always thought that he was a good-looking guy, it was the eyes – so crystal-clear blue, they would be extremely easy to get lost in, and if Jeffrey didn't exist, I could have a serious crush on this guy, but Jeffrey does exist, and that meant that no other man held my interest for long, especially now that Jeffrey and I were together. There is no other desirable man on the planet for me now – Jeffrey was it. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
"Great thanks, just really enjoying watching all of this in a new way,"
"You're a 'Dead' fan?"
"Do you know anyone who isn't?"
"You have a point," he chuckled softly.
It was true – I hadn't met many people who didn't enjoy the show, at least, at one point or another. I know that the numbers had been dwindling until Negan was introduced to the cast, making him a series regular was definitely a strategic move by those in charge.
Without effort or thought – my eyes moved back to Jeffrey who was already watching me, the smile he flashed in my direction – did some very funny things to my insides. My smile returned to him – it held a new hidden meaning between us.
Our secret. The secret that only 4 people knew about – 2 of that 4, were Jeffrey and myself; the other 2 being – Norman and Charlie. Jeffrey and I had both agreed that we each needed someone to talk too about things. It wasn't like I had many choices – Paige is my best friend but she is Jeffrey's daughter, and since we weren't ready to go public yet – that meant that I just couldn't tell her. If I am honest, I am a little bit scared to tell her about me and her dad being together – I don't want to lose my best friend, but I can't walk away from Jeffrey – not when this was something that I had been fantasizing about since I was 13 years old.
