Chapter 28 - Success.

A Couple of Hours Later;

Charlie Hunnam...

Emily had truly created a unique place ~ the decor was like nothing I had ever seen before. The place was full ~ I could see Jeffrey and some of his Walking Dead cast mates; hanging out near the doors of the permitted smoking area. Everywhere I turned; I saw happy faces, drunk faces and people all enjoying themselves. I had never doubted that my friend could pull it off but knowing Emily as well as I do ~ I know that before opening, and even now, she would be panicking.

With Emily being a rock and metal fan ~ the music playing was evident of that; it leant to the atmosphere in a way that made the bar feel like a comfortable and welcoming place to hang out.

I am truly happy for her, and from the way Paige is smiling ~ she is just as happy for our friend. I really don't understand why Paige hadn't wanted Emily to know that she was here, or that she was even planning on attending in the first place.

From the moment that Emily and Jeffrey's relationship had been exposed ~ my fiancee, fuck I loved hearing that and saying it, had been, uncharacteristically silent about it. I'd be fucking lying if I said that I wasn't worried about that. Paige had this amazing ability to articulate anything that she was feeling; so when she was silent like this ~ it meant that she was so far in her own head, that she was over thinking things. I just wish that she'd talk to me. I want to help her see that it isn't as bad a thing as she seems to think it is. Of course, she'd be hurt by finding out about her father and best friend dating.

For whatever reason; Jeffrey and Emily hadn't mentioned that I knew about the relationship. In a miniscule way I am glad that they hadn't mentioned it; my ass would have been chewed up and spat out if she knew but a much bigger part of me; hates lying to Paige. My fiancee was very much into honesty and trust.

"I know what you are thinking!" Paige yelled in my ear.

Oh fuck me! Had they ratted me out after all?

"You do?"

"Of course....let's go outside for a smoke," she suggested. Nodding my head; we moved towards the door where we had entered, when we had arrived I had noticed a spot at the side of the building; that was cordened off with table and chairs inside the space.

"You were saying?" I mentioned taking the spot across from her and lit up the cigarette that she had handed me.

"You were wondering what I am thinking and you want to know why we are here, when I said no to Emily's invitation!"

"You got me!" I smiled as the relief washed through me ~ I really fucking hate keeping this from her.

"I am thinking and wondering if there is something about me that screams unapproachable?"

"Why would you ever think that?" I mean seriously, why is that thought even in her head?

There was nothing about her that was unapproachable ~ if nothing else, she was one of those people, that you just want to open up to her and tell her your deepest and darkest secrets.

"Well something has been happening, something huge ~ between my father and my best friend ~ they felt like they couldn't come and tell me about it; In fact they went out of their way to hide it from me....I can't think of any other reason!"

Ok; well now I know that I can never tell her that I knew ~ not when she is feeling this way about it. This is exactly why she had been so much in her own mind ~ she was driving herself crazy with questions and assumptions.

"Babe; what they told you seems like the truth to me!"

Emily had explained that she and Jeffrey; had wanted to see if if what they had was more than lust, and that they needed to ensure that it wasn't just grief that was fueling what they had.
