Courage let out a hmph, and relaxed. "That's what I thought," he mewed to himself, slightly irritated that he was accused in the first place. He was the King!

Diligence crept forward meekly, towards Powerful's body. Courage snarled, and glared at her. She shrunk back, frightened.

"What do you want with my brother?" he snapped angrily. She set down a bundle of cobwebs, and flicked her tail towards Powerful's chest.

"I think I can revive him, but you have to let me do it now," she replied quietly. Courage stepped to the side, and Diligence quickly got to work. The cubs watched in awe, although most of them didn't know what she was doing. Then Powerful took a breath, and they gasped in unison.

"Should I revive Ambition too?" Diligence asked. Courage looked at the dead she-cat with disdain, then turned back to Powerful.

"No. Just watch over my brother," he ordered. Diligence seemed uncomfortable, but did as she was told, and ignored Ambition. The lions dispersed, leaving Diligence alone to watch over the sleeping Powerful.

One of the murderers slunk up behind Diligence, completely silent. They wove through the tall grasses, and around the rocks. Then, right before they got in pouncing range, Diligence spoke.

"I know you're there. And I know why you've been doing this," the Healer declared. She stood up, and motioned for the murderer to follow her. They did, as Diligence led them under a tree.

"I assume you're going to kill me now, to stop me from healing any of the other lions that you deem unworthy?" Diligence asked. The murderer shrugged apologetically.

"I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. You are a very good Healer. But we can't have you undoing our work," they replied. They set a paw comfortingly on Diligence's shoulder. "I'll make sure your apprentice is trained, if I can". Then, without any struggle from Diligence, they reached up and bit into her jugular. The Healer started to choke, and collapsed to the ground, as the murderer let go and walked away.

Meanwhile, the other murderer was quietly watching the night. They saw the other lions asleep, including Resourceful, who was separated from the group. They felt a twinge of anger as they watched her.

Resourceful was lazy. She always got the other lionesses to do all of the work for her. The murderer couldn't imagine a situation where she would be useful to the Pride. So they would be taking out lioness.

They silently padded over to her, and without any hesitation, held her down. Then, as she began to struggle, they placed a paw over her throat and pushed. Soon, the lioness stopped breathing, and the murderer padded away.

The first lion to wake up was Resilient. As soon as she awoke, she knew that something was wrong. Then she realized what it was. She couldn't hear Resourceful's breathing.

"Resourceful?" she asked, rolling over to look at her daughter. Then she saw the lioness's open, blank eyes, and let out a shriek. Reliable, who was nearby, shot up in fright.

"Resilient, what's wrong?" Reliable asked. Then she saw the dead lioness, and ran to go get Courage. The rest of the lions woke up as well, and Passion noticed that Diligence was missing.

"Diligence? Has anyone seen Diligence?" she asked. All of the lionesses shook their heads, and a hunt began. They spread out to go look for the female, knowing that she was dead.

Rational was the one to find her. She and Sense carried Diligence back to the camp, while Observant alerted the rest of the lionesses that Diligence had been found.

The Pride gathered to begin the accusations. Persistence spoke first.

"It was Rational! She found Diligence, and she's definitely cold enough to do this!" Persistence accused. Rational drew back, shocked that her sister had accused her. Sense stepped forward to defend Rational, but Courage flicked his tail warningly.

"Practical too," Intuition added, with a tail flick towards the old female. "She could be mad at Courage, Powerful, and Clever for overthrowing her old mate and taking control of the Pride". Courage nodded in agreement, looking at Practical suspiciously.

"Very well, so should we begin the voting?" Clever suggested. None of the lions argued, and the voting began.
