Murder in the Woods: A Warrior Cat Mafia

Round 9, Part 3

Bark didn't even protest. She just dipped her head defeatedly, and nodded. "I see. Well, when you figure out this whole murderer thing, let me know. I might come back". She padded out of the camp, leaving all of the cats to look at each other warily. Murderers weren't supposed to respond like that. What if she wasn't a murderer?

While the clan went back to going about their business, Buzzard pulled Hive aside and led him out of the camp.

"What is it, Zaeim?" he asked, worried. Buzzard sighed.

"The murderers are targeting the high-ranking cats, Almaealij. First Wolf, then Hump. They're going to want to kill us next," she mewed quietly. A cat laughed, and stepped out of the bushes.

"Very true, Zaeim. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone," they announced triumphantly. Buzzard stepped in front of Hive protectively.

"Of course it's you. I should have known," she snarled. They smirked at her, as if they knew something she didn't.

"Aw, Zaeim, you really believe that you can protect him?" they asked. They leaned towards her, and lowered their voice. "I think that you forgot an important detail. I have a partner" The second murderer leapt out of hiding and tackled Hive, as the first began to battle Buzzard. Hive was easy to kill, so then the second murderer joined their partner in fighting Buzzard.

"No . . . not you, it can't be!" Buzzard cried, having seen the second murderer's face. While Buzzard was distracted, the first murderer leapt, and swiftly killed her.

The murderers split up and headed back to camp, making sure to go the long way around to avoid suspicion.

When Buzzard and Hive didn't return to camp for a long time, Hyena went and told Dune about it.

Dune told Hyena that she should lead a patrol out to go look for them, but that she should probably be prepared for the worst.

She did so. They found the bodies of Buzzard and Hive pretty quickly. Hyena just stared numbly at the ground once they found the two siblings, refusing to say a word. She didn't even move until Stone urged her to.

Buzzard and Hive were taken back to camp silently. As Stone and other cats tried to comfort Hyena, Scorpion leapt up on top of a rock.

"We must decide what we're doing now. Without the Zaeim or the Mudir, we have no one to lead accusations," he declared. "Does anyone want to accuse anyone?"

No one spoke. He shook his head. "Fine. I guess this will be a free for all then".
