Murder in the Woods: A Warrior Cat Mafia

Round 5, Part 6

Violetfrost snarled when she saw the votes against her. Then she whirled around to face Tulipfur, and lashed out with her claws, but missed. "If it wasn't for you, I would have succeeded!"

Tulipfur drew back, horrified. Not only had her sister killed their mother, but she was now trying to kill her too? "Violetfrost, why? Why would you do this?" she asked. Fennelnose pressed against her supportively.

"Because, I'm dying! And with nothing else to lose, why wouldn't I? You're all so cheerful and ignorant, I despise it!" she spat viciously. Lupinepaw backed away, quivering. "Orchidwhisker was easy to manipulate. For some deranged reason, he couldn't get over his ridiculous crush on me! But the stupid tom couldn't do anything right, could he?"

Sagestar calmly looked to Asterheart, Rosefern, and Lavendercloud. Rosefern was shaking with fury, Lavendercloud looked shocked, and Asterheart was disgusted. In the same calm voice that he always used, Sagestar mewed to Rosefern, "Kill her. There's no need to let this kind of treachery live. Besides, she dying anyway". Rosefern leapt on Violetfrost, and after a short struggle, had managed to kill the black she-cat without getting more than a few scratches.

Moons later, the clan had fallen back into their usual rhythm. Fennelnose had finally gotten the courage he needed to ask Tulipfur to be his mate. The black she-cat had excitedly agreed, and was currently in the nursery. She was taking care of their three kits; a brown tabby tom named Thistlekit, a black she-cat named Iriskit, and a black tom named Mallowkit.

Marigoldleap and Daisyshine had gone through a weird friendship phase, that was something kind of awkward. As it turned out, the two warriors had been hiding the fact that they were mates. Daisyshine had asked him a bit more than a moon after the murders. They had two kits; a ginger and white she-cat named Lilypaw, and a pure white tom named Lilacpaw.

Sagestar and Lavendercloud had mourned the loss of two kits, but had kept going. As it turned out, Lavendercloud had been pregnant throughout the entire murder spree. She gave birth to two kits, who were now warriors. Dahliafire was a dark grey and white patched she-cat with a fiery personality. Peonywish was a pale grey and white she-cat. She was quiet and thoughtful.

Lupinepaw and Pansypaw had become warriors, now named Lupinefoot and Pansystorm. The two cats had grown closer after the crisis, and eventually became mates. Pansystorm had just given birth to two kits, a brown tom and a black she-cat. They had named the tom Tansykit, after Pansystorm's dead brother, and the she-cat Petuniapaw, after their dead friend.

Asterheart and Rosefern were just the same as always. Asterheart was a great deputy, and Rosefern was the most respected warrior. They supported all of the cats, and had been especially excited when Daisyshine and Marigoldleap had Lilypaw and Lilacpaw.

Daffodilsong was still taking care of all of the cats' injuries. He had been excited for his brother when Lilypaw and Lilacpaw were born, and even more excited when Lilacpaw decided to become his apprentice.

Sagestar leapt on top of the flower-surrounded boulder that he began meetings from. "Let all cats old enough to identify flowers gather around the Flower-rock for a clan meeting!" he yowled. The clan gathered around. Daffodilsong and Lilacpaw came out of the medicine cat den, vaguely smelling of herbs, while the others came from around the camp. Pansystorm and Lupinefoot stayed in the nursery with their kits, however. The kits were too young to be left alone.

Thistlekit, Iriskit, and Mallowkit sat excitedly at the base of the rock. They knew that they were going to become apprentices, and couldn't wait. Sagestar began.

"Thistlekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Thistlepaw. Your mentor will be Marigoldleap. I hope Marigoldleap will pass down all he knows on to you," he mewed. Marigoldleap stepped forward, excited. "Marigoldleap, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Yarrowstrike, and you have shown yourself to be loyal and protective. You will be the mentor of Thistlepaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him". Thistlepaw and Marigoldleap touched noses, and Sagestar moved on to Iriskit.

Irispaw was apprenticed to Daisyshine, and Mallowpaw was apprenticed to Peonywish. The three new pairs went out to go tour the territory, as the rest of the cats dispersed to go among their daily activities. Sagestar looked proudly out at his clan, as the dead cats looked down from StarClan.
