i'm introducing a new character, but they're only here as long as they need to be. after that, they'll be gone

also, this chapter is hella fluffy and idk why. no 2doc yet though. that can wait at least another chapter. not making any promises.

edit: to avoid confusion, stoke-on-trent (where murdoc is from) is a city in staffordshire, which is a country in the west midlands of england. i did do some research before writing this fic (as i normally do).

Stuart was roomed with a man who was obviously much younger than he was. The man showed signs of balding despite his age. Although in the first hour of being in the room, the bluenette could see hair in his fists, the color resembling that which was on his head.

"Who are you?" the man asked and 2D tilted his head in confusion. "My name is 2D?" he said, slight inquiry present in his voice. The man laughed, the sound giving 2D a small headache. "Nah man, you can't be two dimensions. I'm Nick, and you are?"

"My name is 2D!" he insisted, narrowing his eyes in anger. "My friend gave me this nickname. I have dents for eyes!"

Nick laughed. "I ain't care nothing about nicknames. Now, let me ask again: what did your parents name you when you were birthed?" he asked and 2D sighed. "Stuart," he stated and Nick nodded. "Now that's much better. Now tell me, do you have a job or any hobbies?"

Although 2D was concerned at the amount of information that was being requested, he ignored any sense of a problem and shrugged. "I'm in a band. Well, not at the moment. We're kinda on a little hiatus. I'm the singer."

"Well, Stuart, I have a job as well. Am a pilot," Nick replied, standing up and walking towards a desk to retrieve sheets of paper. He handed a drawing of a man in a plane to 2D and sat back down. "That there's me, flying over Afghanistan," he said and 2D raised his brow. The drawing was literally a stick figure sat in a dark green plane, obviously drawn with a crayon.

2D handed the drawing back to Nick and smiled. "How long've ya been in here?" he questioned and Nick closed his eyes, clearly in deep thought. "Bout three years. Can't wait to leave so I can see my wife," Nick said excitedly, then looked in 2D's direction. "How 'bout you? You got a lover?"

2D became uncomfortable and shook his head. "Not really, no."

There had never been a desire to date someone, or get married, nor had he thought about it – until now, at least. Now that he thought about it, there was one person who he'd even consider dating, but his mental state and their past made it quite difficult to even act on the consideration.

"Man that's gotta suck. Not havin' anybody to hold when you get lonely. Luckily me an' Noodle got each other," Nick said and 2D gasped. "Hey, my little sister's name is Noodle. Well, she's not really my sister, but she's like a sister to me. She's the guitarist of my band."

A nurse knocked on the door, then opened it. "Stuart, Nicolas, time for group," she said and both men stood up to follow her. The bluenette had no idea what group even was but he continued the walk nonetheless.

They walking into a room where in the center sat a group of chairs placed in a circle. They were the last ones in the room and there were two empty chairs. Stuart sat in a blue one and Nick sat in the remaining empty seat. A woman seemingly in her late thirties greeted him with a smile, which he decided not to return.
