takes place right after last chapter!
also, i've mentioned the incident that made the events of this book sorta exist a few times. maybe i should elaborate on that in a future chapter? lemme know what you think!
oOo
Suddenly, 2D felt arms being wrapped around him affectionately, and he let his own arms do the same.
"I missed you."
As Murdoc spoke, 2D could feel tears beginning to drift down his cheeks and onto Murdoc's bare shoulders before sliding down his back. And they just kept flowing, but by this point, he could care less. He missed Murdoc more than he could ever admit and even after the cute nicknames they'd given each other, he could never tell Murdoc how much he'd missed him.
"How could you miss me? We saw each other so much for the past few weeks."
2D decided that distance was the best thing, but not too much distance that it would concern Murdoc. He just needed to give it a few days. Then, hopefully things would go back to how they were before he'd even gone to the hospital after collapsing, and they could start preparing for the new album.
Murdoc pulled away. "Yeah, I know how much time we spent together. But that doesn't mean I can't miss you," he said and 2D nodded, unsure of what to say so he opted out of saying anything.
"Are you hungry?"
2D shook his head. "I mean... not really, but–"
He paused. "–but pizza does sound nice. Probably better than hospital for food," he continued and Murdoc nodded. "Alright, you just... sit here while I call around to see if there's anywhere open."
Murdoc left the room, phone in hand, and 2D sat down on the sofa. He let his gaze fall to the floor as he began to chew on his already-dull nails. He knew it wasn't healthy and that he could eventually chew too far down, but the only thing on his mind was avoiding Murdoc. He was pulled out of his thoughts by his stomach growling.
"Hey uh, how do you feel about Mcdonald's or somethin'? There aren't any pizza places open."
2D turned his head towards Murdoc's voice and nodded. "Yeah, that's fine," he said quietly and Murdoc nodded. "Okay. I'll get the car ready and then we can go," he said. 2D held his hand up. "Can I not go? I've been away from home for so long and I just wanna... relax, if that's alright?"
Murdoc gave the bluenette a brief nod before exiting the house, leaving him to do whatever. He chose to lie down and rest his eyes for a few minutes while letting his mind wander. A minute later, he fell asleep and began to dream.
It was dark – almost too dark for his liking. The only thing he could see what a faint glow, which he began to move toward. 2D felt as if he were floating.
He could see more as he got closer to the glow, which had now morphed into a semi-bright light. He reached out to touch it, and—
The bluenette jolted into a sitting position and his eyes darted around the room until they landed on Murdoc. He gasped at the sight of Mcdonald's bags in the Satanist's hands. Had he really been asleep for that long?
He blinked before his vision fully focused on the bags. There were two, and a drink carrier was on the table. Two Mcdonald's cups sat in it, both seemingly being larges, and two straws were placed between them.
"If you're tired, I can–"
Murdoc's words were cut short by 2D shaking his head. "No, I'm... I'm fine, really. Like I said, I'm hungry," he stated and Murdoc nodded. "Alright, well uh..."
He handed 2D one of the bags as the bluenette scooted to the edge of the sofa. "Do you want to...?" he asked, gesturing towards the empty spot on said sofa with a small smile, and Murdoc shook his head. "N-No, I'm actually tired. See, I wasn't planning on you coming home today, so I was just about to uh... go to bed."
2D's smile turned into a frown as Murdoc grabbed the other drink and made his way upstairs. "Oh, okay," he whispered and dug into the bag, pulling out a sandwich and removing the wrapper before realizing that he wanted as hungry as before, then rewrapped the sandwich and stuffed it in the bag.
This wasn't how today was meant to go. Yeah, he knew Murdoc didn't like presents or surprises, but he figured that he would be happy about 2D finally coming home after so long and staying home. Apparently he was wrong.

2D neither left the living room nor slept at all that night, leaving him both sad and exhausted the next morning. This also meant that he was in a bad mood.
Noodle had knocked on the door accompanied by Russel, and they were both rather surprised by 2D being there instead of in the hospital, but nonetheless they came bearing gifts.
Murdoc came downstairs as Noodle was setting gifts down on the floor and began swearing at her and Russel for waking him up. He noticed that 2D's eyelids were turned down almost permanently in anger.
"Hey, are you alright?" he asked and 2D nodded. "Yes, perfectly fine. I am just fine," he said through gritted teeth, then mentally facepalmed. He was acting like they were actually dating and Murdoc had forgotten to get him a gift.
Whether or not the exchange between 2D and Murdoc had been noticed, it was ignored as Noodle handed them both a box to start off with. Attached to the box – which was wrapped in red and green wrapping paper – was an envelope, which held a Christmas card and a random gift card. 2D's gift card was for Amazon and Murdoc's was a voucher for free gas. 2D came to the conclusion that both of their gift cards were useful at some point or another.
Then they opened the boxes. On top of the tissue paper was a movie ticket and the item – or items – that the tissue paper covered were socks (yay; note the sarcasm), headphones (Beats?), a pair of green gym shorts and a white t-shirt (the sleeves looked too short and the shorts looked too small – oh well).
"Oh, I almost forgot!" Noodle exclaimed and handed 2D another box, this one being a bit on the heavier side. "These go with your gift," she stated and 2D opened it. A shoe box? With... rollerblades? He looked at Noodle, whose eyes held a glint of excitement. "So... do you like 'em?" she asked and the bluenette put on a fake smile. He liked them, but how in the hell was he supposed to use them?
He ignored the thought and brought his attention to Murdoc, who held up a movie ticket. "The hell's this for?" he asked and Noodle rolled her eyes. "ばかみたい. It's a movie ticket. You go to a cinema and watch a movie. In fact, all of us are going to watch a movie in March. You will enjoy it and not be such a Negative Nancy," she stated. "It took me so long to get the tickets so 黙れ."
2D frowned. He didn't wanna see a movie. In fact, he just wanted to go to sleep. And that's what he did. He said goodbye to Noodle and Russel, grabbed his stuff (food included), and went to his room, which hadn't been touched since he'd left. And he slept, a lot better than he'd slept in a long time.
oOo
so, are you surprised? i was going to make this a longer chapter and have it out much later than now, but i like how i ended it and don't think i need to fix anything (tell me if i do, and i will!).
also, i feel like i can maybe implement some 2doc-ish content soon. but not yet. the fic isn't physically ready and 2D & murdoc aren't ready, so when i feel like the entire fic is ready, i will slowly start building a relationship :)
also, if you have any questions regarding the fanfic, the part(?) before this is the perfect place. everything is explained there, so i hope you do ask some
anyways, i hope you enjoyed this long-awaited chapter that is actually a chapter! one will be out eventually. i don't want to promise anything because i know for a fact that i wouldn't be able to keep it, so yeh
bye until next chapter!
