Down in the far reaches of Canada, there was a place in the deep wilderness that none dared go to. It was an old mansion. It's run down looking complexion and old gray colorless surface gave it the impression of a haunted house, and not without good reason.
Many of those who lived in the town nearby, believed that ghosts did live there. The last locals who went in had been levitated by an unseen force and thrown into the street.
But they were wrong, it wasn't a ghost, but rather a Gemstone esper who had made her home there. That esper, had been dead for years however, since a new arrival 3 years ago had come into the old home and killed her without much effort. In fact, this particular assasin was a pro when it came to killing espers....he was called Death Reach.
Whatever his real name was, nobody knew. Nobody knew his age, or even if he was truly male. Though he seemed to carry himself in the mannerism of a man. His entire jumpsuit was form fitting yet it obscured his true gender thanks to the armored padding under the suit that made him appear to be just a lithe flexiblly powerful humanoid. he always wore a mask that resembled a motorcycle helmet with goggles that had glowing green lenses. And the voice was always disguised by static and distortion technology...having the effect of both making him sound like Darth Vader and obscuring his true identity. Not that he needed it...he rarely spoke at all..
Death Reach had made his base at this mansion for 3 years now, using the legend of the haunting in this mansion as the perfect cover. While the outside still looked rundown, the inside was completely different.
Weapons of all sorts lined the walls, many of which he invented himself to hunt espers. The tables flipped and folded into weapon racks, and a high tech security system, also of his own invention, surrounded every inch of the inside of the home.
Currently, Death Reach was sitting on the couch, surfing through his laptop...next to him, on a trophy rack were several odd objects. In one trophy case, sat a the remains of a shattered skull, it was labled: Impulser. labled for July 20th 25 years ago. Another case had what appeared to be a jar of ashes labled: Smack Wave..labled for the same year about a week before. There were several other cases, showing either bone or ash remains, all of them labled with a date of death, and a Level 5 esper of some sort.
There were only 2 empty cases: One had the lable: Railgun with the date being 'Undetermined' and another had a lable saying Accelerator with the same undetermined date of death.
Death Reach's screen currently showed a layout of Accademy City and he was marking points on it with digitle red pulsating dots.
Death Reach held up his right hand and clenched it, then he unclenched it. One of his greatest secrets dwelled within this right hand...a secret that was held by only one other he knew of....
Death Reach opened up a box that sat on the couch next to him...in it was a ring he had taken from a magician 4 miles out of town..however, it had proved useless to him...
Death Reach removed the black armored glove on his right hand and brushed the ring with his fingertips....the ring shattered into nothingness...
Death Reach put the glove back on his hand and clicked an image on his computer. He stared at the photo of the spikey black haired boy intently, his glowing goggles revealing no expression...
"When? Touma Kamijou? When will we finally learn the truth of this power?"
