It Started With A Follow.(Ashton Irwin)

@ The Shock

It was as if time had stopped, Calum had his arms around Toni, both with shocked expressions. Officer Elks had Chris in handcuffs, my mouth was open but no words would come out.

“What’s going on here?” Dad asked pushing past me to get to Chris.

“Mr. Hughes, your son has a key to the house right?” Officer Elks asks.

“Well, yes, he is my son, of course he does. But that doesn’t answer my question.” Dads voice started to grow louder, I moved behind Ashton peaking out from under his arm.

“Are you aware that Chris also has warrants out for him in three states, and 2 countries?” The Officer asks in a very calm tone. My eyes widen and no one speaks.

“Wha-at for?” Moms voice shakes as tears beam at the corner of her eyes.

“Attempted assault, drug use, drug possession and many more.” Again no one speaks.

“Why?” Dad asks Chris without looking at him. “Why did you come back if you were just going to cause trouble?”

“I don’t know. I wanted to see you guys. I had been clean for months, but suddenly the  need came back. I was broke, and I knew you and mom had money stashed around the house. I came in and started looking but couldn’t find any, but I did find jewelry so I took it. I didn't know anyone was home until I heard Alli yell from the bathroom. I’m sorry.” Chris says softly.

“No!” Dad booms shooting his head over to look at Chris. “I told you the first time we caught you we didn't want anymore drugs in the house! We let you back in thinking you had changed and you take our kindness for granted and steal from us! No.” Dad shakes his head.

“You said you changed.” Mom cries, “We believed you.”

“I'll do my time, and get the help I need. I promise.” Chris begged.

“I won’t believe it till I see it.” Dad spoke softly then walked out of the room, followed by mom.

“Alli.” Chris tried to speak, but I just grabbed tighter to Ashton, his body stiff and eyes narrow on Chris. “Take care of my baby sister.” He tell Ashton.

“You won’t have to worry about her.” Ashton’s voice was plane as he spoke, not removing himself from me.

“You,” He says to Calum. “Take care of her.” He nods his head at Toni who still hadn’t moved, both looking freeked.

“Come on.” Officer Elks says pulling Chris out the door.

As soon as they are out the door Ashtons body relaxes and he hunches down to my height. His hazel eyes meeting mine, “Are you okay?” All I do is shrug. “Are you guys okay?” He asks Toni and Calum, their faces still in shock but not as much.

“Wow.” Toni says. “I knew i had a weird feeling but  I didn't think it was that crazy.” She says sitting on the couch with a sigh. Calum sits beside her and pulls her to his hold.

“I, um. I’m going to go to my room.” I say blankly, turning up the steps.

“I’ll be up in a moment.” Ashton says, pulling me back to look at my face again. “I love you.”

“I love you.” I say, then walk up the stairs. I crawl under the blanks, pulling them over my head. All I can think about it how ready I am to move. Start in a new place, new life, new people. After about ten minutes Ashton come in, not saying a word, gets under the blankets and pulls me to him. We stay that way until I fall asleep.

When I finally woke up Ashton was still sleeping, his head was facing me, eyes softly shut and mouth slightly parted. I gave him a soft kiss on the lips, trying not to wake him, only to have him pull me closer into the kiss.
