After the attack on Camp Half Blood, I ran. I saw my chance and took it. I miss them though. I liked having siblings. I even miss Nico. Wow, that's low. I saw a clearing and went for it. The universe had other ideas. My air scooter vanished and I fell. I screamed as my palm hit the root of a tree, blood smeared everywhere. I looked around to make sure no one followed me. I felt the wind to double check. Nothing. Good.
I sat up and looked at my hand. Thalia had surely cut it deep. Why did she do it though? I trusted her instincts but still, that hurt. I remembered what had just happened. Percy's eyes. They were golden. That coolness inside of my body. I shivered at the thought. I sat there for a while. In the woods. Just watching every little movement. Listening to every little sound. So I didn't expect to hear the sound of hooves. They sent horses after me? Really? I must be important. I allowed a giggle to escape my lips. Important. Ha, Alyssa, you're dreaming.
"You ok?" said a voice next me. I screamed. A man is what stared back at me. Man? I peered around the tree and saw goat-like legs. I screamed again. He laughed. "Never seen a satyr before?" he asked me. I shook my head. He only laughed again.
"I'm Grover" he said. He put his hand out and I shook it. He seemed trustworthy.
"I'm Alyssa" I told him.
"I've heard of you!" he exclaimed happily.
"Uh.." I trailed off not knowing how to answer it.
"Oh, I'm Percy's best friend. He told me all about you" he replied. Well, that answers that question.
"So what are you doing out here?" he asked.
"Did you seriously miss the creature attack?" I replied back.
"Creature?! What did it look like? Describe it to me" he said.
"It doesn't have a form exactly and when it inhabits the bodies their eyes become a golden colour"
"Eidolons" he spat.
"Eido-whats?"
"Eidolons. Children of Gaia or Mother Earth, Nature-whatever" he said.
"Ok then. Well, you missed a great time" I said sarcastically. He either noticed and didn't care or is completely oblivious to sarcasm.
"If it was so much fun, why are you here?" he asked me.
"I-uh-need to go away for a while" I said.
"You're running away" he stated.
"Yep" I answered. We sat there in silence after that. We watched the sun go down, behind the hills and then watched the night sky. Stars twinkling like lights.
"Come on" he said, heaving me up with him.
"What?" I groaned.
"We're taking you home"
"I don't have a home" I whispered back.
"You're a demi-god Alyssa. Your home is where your family is. That is here"
"I killed my family"
"Um, really?" he asked me. I slumped back down to the floor and shortly after, Grover followed.
"You know it's better to talk it out than keep it all bottled up" he said. I smiled at the memory it brought up.
"You sound like Nico" I said.
"Nico? Wise kid" he answered. I giggled.
"Yeah, I guess so"
"So tell me. How did you kill your parents" Grover asked me. Before I could start speaking, I shivered. The wind was cold and I only had a T-shirt on. No sleeves either. Good job Alyssa. I separated my hands and felt the wind touch my wound.
"Ouch. Looks bad" Grover said as he spied my wound I had tried to hide.
"Eh" I shrugged. Grover got up and moved next to me. He put his arm over my shoulder. I felt the heat coming off his body and huddled in. He didn't seem to mind.
"Now tell me all about your parental issues" he said. I began with my mother's death, then ended with how I got here.
"Whoa. You've had it rough" he said. I barely caught his words as I drifted off to sleep. The last thing I saw was Grover's brown eyes looking down at me and him closing his eyes as well.
