NICO –
She smiled at me before plunging into the water below. I screamed. The water was red. All of a sudden, a horrid laugh came out of my mouth. I tried moving but I couldn’t move my arms nor my legs. I watched in horror as sharks surrounded the blood and more blood stained the sea. ‘NO!’ I cried out. ‘NO!’
“No!!”
“Crap! Nico what’s wrong?” a feminine voice asked me. I looked around and saw Alyssa. I pushed myself back until I hit the edge of the Argo II.
“H-how… y-you… w-what?” I stammered. Damn it Nico, find your voice!
“It was a nightmare Nico, just a nightmare” Alyssa said. I exhaled loudly, Alyssa snorted. “At least I know you dream about me”
Gaining my composure I answered her. “Correction, nightmare”. She scowled. I laughed at her. The ship lunged suddenly and Alyssa ended in my arms. I wheezed out a breath as she hit me. “I know you want me but seriously…” I said sarcastically. She rolled her eyes.
“It wasn’t me”
“Is it just me or are we –“
“Falling” she finished. I realised that we never hit a wall after she crashed into me.
“Hold on” I told her. I could see a shoreline not too far from us. Shadow-jumping there will be hard but I can try. Grabbing Alyssa around her waist, I pulled her closer to me and felt my heart go a-mile-a-minute as she leaned her head against my chest. She chuckled.
“You know, your heartbeat should probably slowdown”. I coughed, slightly embarrassed. Gathering all the strength I could muster, I shadow-jumped us so we were a quarter of the way to the shore. I did it another 3 times before we reached the shore. I turned so Alyssa would land on me. Sure enough, I coughed and wheezed as she landed on top of me. She rolled off quickly muttering an apology.
“No it’s okay” I told her. She smiled. Sudden shouts caught our attention. Two boys ran over to us. I sat on the soft sand, confused. They shouldn’t be able to see us. With the mist in place, we shouldn’t be seen by mortals. Then, it hit me. Festus hadn’t gone anywhere! We were still in San Francisco, where Camp Jupiter also is. I groaned. Now we have to make our way there with no time to spare!
“Alyssa?”
“Yes” she answered.
“Can you talk to your accomplice?”
“Yes”
“Ask her how Leo’s doing”
“Already did”
“Really?”
“Yep. He’s fine, other than being unconscious” she answered me. I nodded.
“Sup guys” a boy began. He had blonde hair and brown eyes. So did the other boy he was with. They looked like twins.
“U-uh hi?” Alyssa replied.
“I know you” the other boy said to her. Her face paled instantly.
“Y-you do?” she asked.
“Na, I’m just kidding” he said. Alyssa breathed sigh of... Relief? I laughed.
“Geez hottie, calm down”. She glared at me. I winked at her.
“Dude, keep it off the beach” one boy began.
“I’m Nico” I told them.
“I’m Bobby and he’s-“
“Matthew” the boy, Matthew, finished for him.
“Boys!” a loud voice came from beyond the beach.
“Come join us for-“
“Lunch” Bobby finished. Alyssa giggled. I smiled at her. She’s really enjoying this, her face became serious, completely taking me by surprise.
“We can’t” she stated.
“Why?”
“We have to see a friend”
“Who?”
“My best friend” she said, her cheeks going a slight pink.
“Is he a guy?” Bobby asked.
“Yes”
“Is he your boyfriend?” asked Matthew.
“Matty! Dude, not cool” Bobby said, shaking his head.
“No he’s not”
“Is he?” asked Matthew, completely ignoring his brother.
“N-n-no” Alyssa stammered. I smirked.
“You wish”
“Keep dreaming jerk” she snapped.
“Boys! You have 5 seconds before I shoot your butts!” the voice called out.
“Argh, -“
“Mothers” Matthew finished Bobby’s sentence.
“Please join us?”
“We will on one condition” Alyssa answered Bobby.
“Yeah?” Matthew asked.
“How can you see us?” I interjected.
“That’s easy” Matthew said.
“We’ve always seen the monsters” Bobby agreed.
“But we aren’t-“
“And the demi-gods” Matthew added, cutting me off. I looked at Alyssa and she looked back at me. Both of us astonished.
“How?” I asked him.
“It’s our secret” Bobby replied. I rolled my eyes at his immaturity.
“Na, because of our sister” Matthew answered me, oblivious to his brothers secretive manner. I have a feeling I know where this is going.
“And who might that be?” Alyssa asked.
“Annabeth Chase” the boys said in unison. “We’re her twin brothers”
