ALYSSA - Training Part I

I left the bathroom in a hurry. Thankfully, Nico had taken of like I asked him. God, for a hot guy he was really annoying. I left with Leo who was waiting outside. He seemed pretty ok with what just happened there. We continued walking down until we reached the training grounds. Why did I need training? Huh, beats me. I'm a criminal for goodness sake, I can fend for myself.

"You're a what?" Leo asked. Did I seriously say that out loud?

"Yes" he answered. Freaking hell? What was wrong with me?

"I don't know, ask yourself" he replied sarcastically. Did he hear the part about-

"It being Nico in your bathroom and that you think he's hot? Yes" he answered. I started cursing under my breath.

"Just don't tell no one. Ok?" I asked him.

"Yeah. And anyway, just 'cause you think he's hot doesn't mean you like him. Right?" he said.

"Yeah" I answered. Do I like him? Maybe I do. I can't. No way. He's Hazel’s brother. Ew.

"Try talking to yourself when I'm not around" he told me. Argh! Comments stay in my head!

"That's what I think" he said. I decided to change the topic.

"So what am I doing anyway?" I asked him.

"Training" said a male voice from behind me. Please don't be Nico, I thought.

"What?" said Jason. "Just don't be as weird a sister as Thalia" he smiled at me. 

"So what are you doing?" I asked.

"We" he corrected. I groaned.

"So what are we doing?" I asked him, emphasising the we.

"I'm going to teach you how to use lightning" he said. I shook my head.

"No chance"

"Why?"

"You don't know what I've done with it"

"I'll teach you to control it" he said. I looked up at him when he said that. Control it. I need that if I'm going to make a run.

"Ok, fine" I answered. He stood in front of the target.

"Now shoot" he said.

"What?! No way I'll electrocute you!" I yelled.

"Calm down. Lightning doesn't effect a son of Zeus. Duh" he said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "But I want you to want it to hit me" he said. Seems easy enough. I gathered up all my strength, put my hands out and shot. Nothing. Nothing at all. Crap.

"Ok? I don't know what was up with that. Try again" he said. I did. Again, again, again and again but still nothing happened.

"She's bad at this" said a voice from beside me. I turned around. Surely enough, Nico is standing next to me.

"Then how do you do it?" I asked him. He shrugged. 

"I don't know"

"Then go away"

"Nah, need my entertainment for the day" he said. I clenched my fists. My anger threating to blow up. I calmed myself.

"Go look in the mirror. That'll give you something to laugh at" I spat back.

"Oh, feisty" he said.

"I see what you're doing" Jason said. I threw him a confused glance. "Let him continue" he added. Great brother you are!

"And?!" I told Nico.

"You suck"

"Thank you" I clenched my fists again. I get it now! I looked at Jason. He smiled. He knew I realised what Nico was doing. I have to admit.. Smart on Nico's part. I saw some girls arriving near Nico. They were gorgeous so I'm guessing Aphrodite children. Crap. I look like a mess and I am going to fail. I need to try though. I pushed all my anger to the surface. And snap. A crack of lightning came out of my fingers and hit Jason. Ha, I thought.

"Well. We can definitely say that you're strong" he wheezed. I ran over to him.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"But not very smart" he said. Just as he said that he punched my stomach and kicked my legs, causing me to flip over and land face first in the sand. Yummy. I got up, wiping the sand from my arms and legs. I could hear the group of Aphrodite girls laughing. I smirked.

"Yeah, it is pretty funny hey" I said. They stopped laughing. But Nico didn't.

"So-gasp-funny-gasp-" he breathed in between laughs. I heard Jason laugh.

"If it's so funny.. You try" he said. I threw Jason a thank-you look. It's not like I'm not angry he did that. I'm impressed actually. It's that Nico has constantly been giving me crap since I got here and revenge is due. He sighed and got up. He walked casually over to the target and stopped walking. He put a smirk on his face although his eyes betrayed him. He was scared. I've had enough with this guy.

"'A trick that no one but Zeus' children know about. Think about how you want to do it and feel it" Jason whispered to me. I nodded. I'm getting the hang of this.

"Gimmie all you got" Nico shouted.

"Oh, I plan on it" I said. The next few seconds happened too fast. I closed my eyes and felt the breeze around me. I imagined that it now surrounded me completely, like a tornado. I opened my eyes and saw that it had worked. I glared at Nico. Payback is a 14 year old blonde in jeans and a T-shirt. Payback is me. I pushed the wind towards Nico and as I did, my tornado moved. I smirked. As I moved towards him, I remembered Thalia's daggers I saw on her waist. I imagined them in my hand and a flash was all I saw.

Next thing I knew there were 2 dagger looking lightning bolts and I threw them at Nico. He remained in front of the target but them he disappeared. I saw this coming. He shadow-jumped. I felt the wind once again and also felt where he popped up. I turned around and threw the lightning bolts. They caught his jacket and pinned him against the nearby wall. I walked up to him and smiled.

"Who are you?" he asked. Obviously impressed.

"I am Alyssa" I said. May as well face it. I couldn't do that if my father was a criminal.

"I am a daughter of Zeus". I heard clapping from behind me. I turned around and saw none other than Thalia herself.

"What did you teach her Jason?" Thalia said.

"Tricks" he answered.

"Well then-" she paused, getting my dagger-bolts from the wall. Nico slumped then shadow-jumped away. "-it's my turn" she smiled. Oh Lord help me.
