I couldn’t remove the sickly face of Piper from my mind. So pale but still wanting to continue. Her eyes glassy yet looking as though they held the secret of the universe. I wish I had stayed to be there for her and aid her healing process but Thalia was right.
We are the only children of Zeus, including Alyssa. I still cannot believe that I have a little sister. She’s feisty that’s for sure, but she can also be knowledgeable and witty. Strategically, she’s a genius but has a short temper. That’ll be the death of her.
She’s too young for a quest like this. Sure, Percy was only twelve but it wasn’t as bad as this one. Our world hung in the balance of her decisions and her judgements. I don’t know how she could hold that much responsibility and continue to act so calm and confident. She must have been raised well.
Actually, how was she raised? By her mother I’d guess since her father – our father – is a God. She has too much power for just one child to bear.
I shook my head. “What is it?”
I glanced over at Thalia and replied. “Alyssa”
“You worry too much. She has our training-”
“It’s not that. It’s just that she’s too powerful even for a child of Zeus”
“She has Bianca’s soul you know”
“Yes but still”
“Forget about it Jason. We need to focus on the task at hand” Thalia reasoned.
Nodding, I gave her a quick smile. “Thank Thalia”
After (eventually) convincing Reyna to let us talk to the children of Vulcan, they told us of a project they’d been working on. Using the blueprints Leo supplied them with, they built a replica of Festus the dragon.
Grateful, they allowed us to take him to Alaska but warned us that he may be faulty. So far, he’s fine. Thalia knows how to operate him. I tried to take over but she refused claiming that it helped her forget the idea that she was in the air.
The girl Thalia found, Kamila, is… Creepy. She stares at me with a scary intensity and it sends chills down my spine. Her green eyes roaming me, searching for something.
What scared me most was how chummy she acted saying things like ‘Why did you leave?’ and ‘What happened to Piper?’ If she’s on the quest what does she think happened to Piper?
“Hey Jason” Kamila drawled. Her green hair was quite the statement. She said it ‘makes her different’. Personally, it makes her look weird and for a daughter of Venus, that isn’t like them.
