The sound of birds chirping echoed as Chris walked down the pathway to head into work. He smiled as he stopped to look up at the nest of birds in the trees and watched them for a moment. They just seemed so happy to be singing in the warm California sun and he felt like some of their joy spread to him.
Not that he felt he needed any extra happiness though... ever since a few days ago when he officially started dating Allie he didn't seem to be able to get a smile off his face. He hadn't ever felt this way before and he just wanted to run down the sidewalk singing like he was in a musical.
As he stood there daydreaming while he stared at the birds, he felt a small hand slip into his. Chris turned his head and found Allie's bright eyes shining up at him before she stood on her toes and pressed a deep kiss to his lips.
"Hi," She greeted him once she pulled away.
"H-Hi," Chris breathlessly replied.
"Just so you know..." Allie trailed off while she tugged on his hand before the pair started walking toward the building. "You're super cute. Like really cute. I was looking at you when I was walking up and ugh, you're just so handsome and you have the cutest little sideways smile and your blue eyes are the prettiest things I've ever seen."
Chris blushed at her praise but still joked back, "Hey, you should ask me on a date."
"How about I ask you to be my boyfriend instead?" Allie snickered while he pressed the button for the elevator.
"Sorry, I'm already dating someone," Chris played along as they stepped inside the elevator and the door closed.
"Oh really?"
"Mhmm," Chris put his hands on Allie's hips and pulled her closer. "She's got this really adorable blonde curly hair, sparkling eyes and a smile that makes my stomach feel like a washing machine. She's so talented, smart, loves everyone, and is so joyful it's like she put the color in my world."
"Wow, she sounds fun, I should meet her," Allie laughed while wrapping her arms around Chris' neck and pressing her body up against his toned one.
"Yeah she is," Chris smirked while stealing a quick peck. "The only thing though is she's really short... like pint sized. I have to reach down a long ways to kiss her."
"Well did you ever think that maybe I have to reach a long ways up to kiss you?" Allie put her hands on her hips and sassed him.
All he could do was tip his head back and belt out a round of loud laughter before he pulled her back up against him and leaned down so close that their lips brushed together when he spoke, "Somehow though, I don't mind leaning down because that means I get to be kissing the prettiest and most wonderful girl I've ever met."
Now it was Allie's turn to feel emotional as Chris passionately pressed his lips to hers. His big hands rested flat on her back to hold her against him while hers tangled around his neck. Chris kissed her deeply and sucked on her bottom lip, making her sigh. She wanted to just stay there forever but the bell of the elevator dinged, making them pull apart quickly before the door opened.
"Boy, you're just full of surprises Mr. Evans," Allie chuckled before Chris brought his hand to loosely hook around her waist.
"I'm not completely boring," He laughed with amusement in his eyes while they stepped out of the elevator.
She turned to look up at him and said in a tone that was void of all humor, "I don't think you're boring at all. I think you're the most kind hearted, funny, creative, faithful, thoughtful, loving and intelligent person that I know."
Chris blushed softly and looked down at the floor to try to hide the soft smile that crossed his lips but Allie just looked up at him with her sparkling eyes and rested a hand on his smooth cheek, "Hey... I mean it Chris. You truly are the most wonderful person that I've ever met."
At work, Chris was the quiet man who minded his own business. He normally just softly smiled at the people he walked by on the way to his office, never drawing too much attention to himself but in that moment, he just couldn't contain himself and wrapped his arms around Allie's slender waist. He hugged her tightly and leaned down to kiss her so sweetly and lovingly that Allie thought her heart was going to melt.
When he pulled away, he pressed one more little kiss to her forehead before they kept on walking down the hallway. The pair practically had hearts in their eyes whenever they looked at one another and Allie held onto his warm hand tightly while she enthusiastically told him a story as they walked down the hallway and Chris intently listened.
He was hanging on her every word until he saw her eyes glance at someone coming down the hallway and a little frown appeared on her perfect pink lips in response. Chris looked to see Jason and it now was obvious why Allie was frowning.
"Well, I'm surprised to still see you two together," Jason said as he approached them. "Surprised you don't have a new flavor of the month, Allie."
Allie opened her mouth to say something but Chris squeezed her hand gently and leaned down to kiss her cheek before saying, "Why don't you and get started working and I'll meet you there in a minute."
Allie trusted Chris in every possible way and so she did as he said and walked past Jason, ignoring him so she could get down to the end of the hallway. The kind hearted and normally non-confrontational Chris had his blood boiling in anger toward the man.
He squared his broad shoulders and glared at him as he said, "Look Jason, I don't know what your problem is, but leave Allie alone."
The man rolled his eyes and smirked, "Oh lighten up, I'm just joking with her."
"No, you're not joking and even if you were, you don't have the right to. Leave her alone," He told her again.
"And what if I don't?" Jason couldn't help but ask, wanting to push Chris' buttons.
Chris wasn't joking though and he glared at him while saying, "I don't think you want to find out."
And with that, Chris walked by him and down the hallway where he pushed the door to his office open. Allie already had pulled up another chair to his desk and was sketching some ideas when he walked in. He just gave her a silent smile before he came to sit down and put on his tortoise framed glasses, ready to get to work.
Before they started, Allie reached over and put a hand on his cheek to turn his face to hers so she could lean over to plan a big kiss on his lips. It left Chris wide eyed and breathless while Allie told him, "I love being your girl."
A wide smile appeared on Chris' lips as he told her, "I love it too."
Allie then saw a big smudge on his glasses from where her face was against his when they kissed and she giggled cutely, "Sorry I got your glasses dirty."
"It was well worth it."
