"I'm almost ready, Chris!"

Even though Chris knew that she couldn't see him from where he was sitting on the bed since she was still in the bathroom, he nodded his head in response. He didn't really care how long Allie took to get ready. For Chris, as much time he could spend at home rather than at the work Christmas party, the happier he was.

Chris hated stuff like that. He felt awkward at parties like this Christmas party when you had to mill around and make small talk. It literally was an introverts nightmare but being a senior designer, it was expected for him to be there... besides, he had skipped last year.

He didn't get to keep thinking about his nerves about the party though because his brain soon became completely occupied with the sight in front of him. Allie stepped out of the bathroom ready to go to the party and Chris felt like the breath was stolen from his chest. She had on a deep red velvet dress that had a classic high neck and came to hit right above her knee. It looked so cute on her short frame but she was just a bit taller tonight with the black heels that were on her feet.

Allie had worn more makeup than normal, her favorite part being the bright red lipstick she bought specifically for this party. She had pulled her dirty blonde curls back into an elegant twist on the back of her head and all it did was make Chris dream about kissing his way along her neck. Without a doubt though, Chris' favorite part of her outfit was the diamond ring that sat on her left hand.

Even though they only had been married for a month, it already was Chris' favorite month ever. Getting to share his life with Allie was the greatest treasure he could have ever asked for and what warmed his heart is that she constantly reminded him that she felt the same.

"Do I look okay?" Allie asked while making a face at her reflection in the mirror, picking off a piece of lint that stuck to her dress. "Is this too boring? I think it needs something maybe."

Chris got off the bed where he was waiting for her and walked over. His tall frame towered over hers and he put his big hands on her hips, leaning down to kiss her deeply before he cupped her cheek and said, "You took my breath away Allie. You look stunning."

His words went straight to her heart and tears gathered in her eyes. Allie brought her hands up and waved them in front of her eyes, trying to dry them while teasing, "Stop being the sweetest man alive and making me cry! I don't want to ruin my makeup!"

"Sorry," Chris chuckled while leaning in to kiss her cheek. "You just look so pretty."

"Well look at you!" Allie gasped while standing back to take in the sight of her husband. His hunky shoulders were covered in a warm cream sweater, a tan jacket and on bottom were a pair of plaid pants that outlined those illegally long legs of his and she mused, "Those pants fit you in all the right places."

Chris just blushed from her words and she hooked her arms around his neck, standing on her toes to peck at his lips while telling him, "I can't wait to take them off you later."

"We could just skip the party..." Chris trailed off, liking her idea a lot more.

"You really don't want to go, do you?" Allie laughed while looking up at him.

Chris let go of her and walked over to put his dress shoes on, shrugging while telling her, "Not really, but I know I need to."

"Why do you hate Christmas parties so much?" She didn't understand.

"It's not Christmas parties, just parties in general," He confided in his wife while tying his shoes. "You have to make small talk, which I suck at. I get nervous around people I don't know and I just never know what to say. Then if there isn't anyone you know, it's awkward to stand by yourself and I just... don't like them."
