After picking up my phone and staring at it for the millionth time that night, I finally decided to text her. I had to say something.

C: Hey I saw the performance

C: You guys killed it💞

I️t was too late to turn back. I had pressed send. I couldn't believe that it had been a month since I had left, a month since we had talked, a month of radio silence from all of the girls. I hadn't expected much after leaving, but I hadn't expected a total shutout either. Then again, I wasn't sure what there was to say. I just knew that someone had to say something. My phone buzzed on my stomach.

D: You did? Thanks😋

D: We worked really hard

Dinah's simple response made me smile. I️t wasn't what she said, it was just that she had said anything at all.

C: It showed🤗

C: How have you been?

D: Goodddd break was AMAZING but now it's back to the grind😩

D: What about you? How's everything?

C: It's good! A little weird tbh but good

C: How's everyone else?

Translation: How was Lauren?

D: Good everyone's excited to start working on new stuff you know how sick we get of our own songs after a tour😂😂

C: Hahaha yeah that's good when are you guys going to start recording?

D: Soon! We just had to get through the PCA's rehearsals but now we're free to write😍

C: Write?

D: Yeah! They told us we'll be writing a lot more this time around

D: I'ma cut a bish if they don't keep their word😡😡

C: Oh that's awesome! I'm happy for you guys

D: Thanks Mila how's your stuff going? You've been in the studio too right?

C: Yeah it's going well

I felt a bit awkward hearing about the fact that they were going to be writing more on the album, but not as awkward as I felt talking about my own stuff. I had been practically conditioned to keep my mouth shut anytime I was working on anything, so I didn't feel like sharing much, even with Dinah. I knew that she had told me she wanted to hear about my stuff, but, if that were the case, why hadn't she reached out to me for an entire month? Would she have even bothered to talk to me if I hadn't initiated it? Instead, I decided to shift the focus to something else.

C: Can I ask you something?

D: Is it about Lauren?

How did she know?

C: What do you think I'm going to ask?

D: Idk how she's doing or something

D: You should text her
