Chapter 1: Summer

Erin's POV

It was summer, and I had just moved from Paris to the Hogwarts district in the UK. I was just sitting in my bay window until my mother burst in screaming.

"Erin!," she exclaimed "why are you just sitting around!?"

I replied, "I was writing in my diary, mum. Is there a problem?"

"Go out and walk for a while, I hate to have you acting like you're in a jail." she said

"Where is dad?" I asked quietly

She just looked at me with the 'you know exactly where he is' face.

"Okay," I said "I'm going to the park."

"Rin..." she said sternly

"What?"

"Leave your books here and actually have fun"

"I find reading quite fun!" I exclaimed

"You and about 1,000 other people in the world! Go, make friend" she said very softly

"Alright, I love you mum.." I said as I kissed her cheek and left

A abandon park

I thought to myself 'this place is empty, why would she want me to come out here?'. Then I heard a voice from behind me, and I could feel the presence of multiple people.

"Hello" said a girl with very curly hair

I naturally replied with, "Hi'

"I'm Hermione Granger, this is Ron, Harry, and Draco." she said

"I'm Erin Smith" I said as I stuck out my hand

She shook it and the other boys looked at me weirdly, I assume my accent is making them question anything I say

"I am from Paris, I caught on to English quickly." I said as their looks softened

"I -I'm Draco Malfoy." The blond hair boy said as he stuttered

I smiled

"Do you want to be friends?" Asked Hermione

"Hermione, don't make her think you're some weirdo by asking to be friends 5 minutes after meeting" The boy with circle glasses said, I assume he is Harry, he is the talk of the town from what I've heard anyways.

"It is quite alright, I actually need friends, I'm not going to know anyone at my new school." I said kind of sad and happy at the same time

"What school do you go to?" suspiciously asked who I assume was Ron

"Erm, certainly not a muggle school, that would be absurd." I replied with a smile

"Thanks the heavens, I thought we were actually oblivious for a minute" Hermione said with a slight laugh

"That would be awful for Hermione, she is quite smart and being oblivious is the end of the world for her, everything for her has to be, be smart or be even smarter, there is no in between or being dumb" Ron said sarcastically

"Aw, don't bully her. She is perfect the way she is."  Draco said while looking at me

"So... do you want to go to the Quidditch World Cup with us? I'm sure Mr.Weasley won't mind, would he Ron?" Said Hermione glaring daggers at Ron

I took a minute to think about it. Mum did say go out and make friends, and it is better than reading books... I guess it might be fun...

"Sure!" I exclaimed

"Terrific!" Hermione yelled as she hugged me

Draco smiled and Ron and Harry were pushing each other around on the spinny thing.

About a week passed and tomorrow was the Quidditch World Cup competition. I learned more about Hermione, she has been hoping to find another girl for the group because hanging around boys is just too much for a lady like her. I told her I lived with my brothers before I moved here, so I am most likely manly than Ron and Harry, don't know about Draco though. Me and Hermione are staying at the Weasley's so we don't have to travel back and forth since my house is sorta far from theirs. The house is crammed but Mrs. Weasley was nice enough to fix up the shed a little bit and let us sleep in it.

Me and Draco decided to talk a walk near a lake

"It's beautiful out here, I started to hate it here... I had no friends, but now." I said as I slightly chuckled

Draco smiled and said "Glad we have another person in our group, do you know what house you're in?"

"House?" I asked with a confused look on my face

"Yeah, like Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw?" He said as looked at me like I was crazy

"Oh! no I don't know, I will be sorted after the first years in Dumbledore's office, that is his name correct?" I asked

"You are correct." He said as he laughed

We heard a voice in the distance call us. It was Mrs. Weasley saying it was time for dinner, thank god. Mum doesn't cook a lot so I only eat whenever she feels like cooking.

"We should go.." Draco said as he walked away, he almost sounded sad..

"Mrs. Weasley this looks amazing, thank you so much, and Mr. Weasley thank you so much for taking me to the Quidditch World Cup competition. I really appreciate it." I said as I smiled big as we all ate

After dinner I thanked them again and Hermione, Draco, Ron, Harry, Fred, George, Ginny, and I all sat by a fire outside. We all joked around and laughed, I'm glad that I have made friends here.

Time skip to 2 days before school, Hermione's house

"Hermione!" I shouted

There was no response. walked up to her room and opened the door. She was asleep and had an open book on her chest, I sat on the foot of the bed and sighed. I watched the hallway as her mom walked by and said "Just scream at her, it always wakes her up with quite a fright." and when I turned around, Hermione was staring at me and said, "Don't even think about doing that, ever." and I laughed as she said it.

"So two days before school starts, Hermione. What house do you think I'll get?" I asked as I got up from her bed and walked to her chair and sat down

"Maybe Ravenclaw, you're really smart. I don't get why you're a 5th year, you know more than me and that is really impressive." She said as she chuckled.

"Maybe, I feel bad for Draco. I'm hoping Slytherin so he isn't as lonely in the, what are they.... oh! common rooms." I sighed.

"Are you going to stay the night tomorrow so you don't have to travel a long ways?" Hermione said as she got up from her bed.

"Yeah, is that okay with your mum?" I asked cautiously

"Of course, they love you. I don't usually have a lot of friends over. So it's a change for me and them" She chuckled

"Alright, also. Thanks for taking me to Diagon Alley to shop for school stuff, I would've been so unprepared and that gives me panic attacks." I said as I laughed lightly

2 days went by quickly, I was going to miss my mum. 9 months away from her will be saddening for me and her both. But at least I'm getting a lot of education. We made our way to 9 3/4 and got on the train, it was a long ride but totally worth it, because when we arrived at Hogwarts.... It looked like a castle from a fairy tale... we were still a couple minutes away. But I loved it already... Hogwarts. Here comes Erin Smith!

End of Chapter 1!!!

This first chapter was so hard to write, this is my first story and I really stumped me. But I'm glad it did because I think it can further my education in writing!! I do not have an upload schedule, I will eventually, but not right now because of midterms. Thanks for understanding.
