Ashton let out a cheer as she sliced across the wave, her fingertips just under the water beside her. She cheered as she ducked under the barrel of the huge wave, coming out the other side easily as she stood; throwing her hands up in the air. She fell back into the water, letting it take her in its grip. Eli watched her in awe, his eyes gleaming. The girl pushed herself back up onto her board, paddling out to where he sat with Deran.
'Nice,' Deran held out his hand for a fist bump.
'This swell is insane, man,' She nudged his fist.
'Yeh, guess we have that arsehole to thank.'
He smirked Eli's way, the boy smirking back at him as he shook his head; knowing he was only teasing.
'Only the best,' He chuckled.
'How much longer you gonna be in town?' Deran asked.
'I don't know... A few more days, next comp's over in Hawaii.'
'Nice. You gonna take Ash with you?'
'Oh, piss off,' She suppressed a smile as she splashed him.
'Hey, it's not like he hasn't before.'
'And look how that ended up.'
'Yeh, yeh... I'm gonna head in, Smurf wants to have a family meeting.'
'Well, you can catch me up later.'
'Ash.'
'Don't... Please.'
She held his gaze, pleading with him silently. A sigh left his mouth as he glanced over at Eli, before he lowered his head and looked back out to the horizon.
'It's your head,' He informed her as he laid down on his board.
'I'll just say I forgot,' She waved him off.
'Whatever you say. It was good seeing you, man.'
'Yeh, you, too. Tell Craig and Baz I said hey,' He nodded to him.
'I will. See you at home, Ash. I'll start planning your funeral.'
'Get out of here, arsehole,' She sprayed water his was as he paddled back to shore.
She shook her head as she looked down at her board, slowly glancing up at the boy beside her as he stared at her.
'You should go if she's going to get-' He started.
'I can handle Smurf, babe,' She informed him; 'Don't worry about me.'
