19k already? Sheesh, thank you! ❤️

We walk into the department for the second time today and I go towards the bathroom, feeling nauseous. My quick movements send dizziness to my head and I fall into a wall.

"Are you okay, Gav?" Tina comes up behind me and I nod, not verbally responding.

I slam open the men's bathroom door and breathe heavily while holding myself up with the edge of the sink. My heart pounds against my chest as I feel sweat rolling down my forehead. My throat feels like there's something burning through it.

I throw some water on my face and look down into the drain, letting the droplets fall into the sink. The water somehow settles my stomach and the pressure I felt on my chest fades away.

A headache grows, having gone through a sudden burst of sickness. I guess the corpse smell really got to me. It didn't help that I was sleep deprived either. My legs felt like I could collapse at any moment, they felt so weak.

"Detective? Are you alright?" Conan suddenly appears next to me and I nod, trying to stand on my own without the support of the sink. I shut my eyes tight as the dizziness hits me again and my legs give out.

He catches me with fast reflex and I stay there, leaning on his chest to help me stay up.

"I think you need to go home, Gavin. You don't look so well."

"I-I'm fine. Just give me a minute..."

"That's strange. You have traces of the Hydrogen Sulfide gas around your body," he says with worried eyes.

"What the fuck is that?" I ask, not understanding.

"Hydrogen Sulfide is also known as sewer gas. It's produced by the breakdown of waste material. Your nose was probably overwhelmed by it because the levels of it were high. The thing is, I'm not sure where it came from. It can be found in human and animal waste but usually only if they have faulty plumbing. You're lucky that there weren't very high levels of it. It only takes a few breaths for you to pass out and it could even cause death. But this still doesn't make sense. Only that high of level would be found in a workplace, not a home."

When he said that, chills were sent down my spine and I started to breathe quicker.

"A-am I going to be okay?" I ask, not looking up at him but accepting the comfort that he gives by wrapping his arms around me.

"Yes but I think you need the gas to clear out of your system. It'll take a few weeks for your symptoms to go away though."

"Isn't there another way for it to go away faster?" I ask, not wanting to be sick and have these kinds of moments again. I was in enough pain.

"Well..." he looks to the side awkwardly, "I have a filtration system to give you better air and clear it out but..."

"But? But what?" I ask, looking up at him.

"It would have the need for me to... as you would call it, 'kiss' you. But really, it's like-"

"No," I say, ripping my eyes away from his gaze. My heart continues to pound against my chest as I think back. I'm such a fucking coward.
