Chapter 40:AN UNEXPECTED COMEBACK🍃

I looked at him blankly, mostly because I did not know how to react. He smiled at me and said:

"Hi... It's been so long I know."

"What do you want?" I replied, more harshly than what I wanted.

"I want to talk to you."

"And what if I don't?"

"I know you hate me for what I did. But at least let me try to explain myself?"

"If you came here to apologise and clear your conscience... I'll spare you that. I already forgave you but I didn't forget what you did to me. And I don't want to have anything to do with you now. You're my past!" I stated.

"I'm not here to clear my conscience. I'm here because I want to patch up with you. What I did was wrong and I suffered from it as well. I want us to give it a try again."

"Why though?"

"Because... I love you. I always did but I never accepted that." he confessed.

I could not resist laughing at him. I waited for this day for so long and it finally happened. I know it hurt him that I was laughing but I did not care at the moment. I then asked: "It took you 5 years to realise that?! And also... how did you find me?"

"Yeah I know I'm so dumb but better late than never!😌 I asked your friends where were you and they told me that you were studying here. I went to your campus and asked some people if they knew you. After many attempts, someone finally nodded. I told her our story and why I was here and she gave me your address."

"Okay firstly you're no philosopher and secondly... our story?! There was never anything between us and I'll request you to never come here again." I was about to close the door when he held it and said:

"No, please. Listen... we can try becoming friends again. Who knows what will happen from there? Please let us start afresh?"

That was making me feel uneasy and I just replied: "I already have many friends and what you want will never happen!"
